I saw that you plan to do some reworks of the Organize module soon, and I'm not sure if this suggestion had been made before or not. It would be great if you were able to organize your albums by tags, or if you had the ability to bring up all images with a certain tag and then make a completely new album from them. Do you have any plans to add functionality like this? |

I'm not sure what you mean by "organize your albums by tags". Could you clarify that?
As for bringing up all images with a certain tag and creating an album from that. That would have to be a an additional module. One thing to think about, would you be moving these images into that new album or creating copies?

Essentially, it would be like a a dynamic sort. The idea was that you'd upload an image and assign it a tag. It would then automatically be moved into an album based on the tag it was assigned. This could possibly be a separate module. If that is too difficult to do however, an alternative would be to have a function in the current organize module that would simply take an album, check the tags, and then sort all the images into separate albums based on tags.
This was an idea proposed by the individual that I am maintaining the image gallery for. I believe their original intent was that it would simply move the images. However, I could see the desire to possibly have the option to copy them as well so that images with multiple tags could appear in multiple albums based on these tags.

That is how the tags module works now, is it not? If you tag a item with a word dog, then all items that have that 'dog' tag will be in the tag album.
Perhaps I am not understanding what you are after.

The functionality I see as it is now, is that if you create an album it forms an empty album which you can then populate with images, either by uploading them directly or using the organize module to move images into it. If you assign tags, then yes you can click a tag and bring up a list of images associated to that tag, however its just that... a list. It is in no way an actual persistent album, as it does not show up in the album listing.
What I was hoping for is a way to have dynamic albums. A tag or tags would be associated with the album, and if an image were uploaded and assigned a tag, it would automatically be moved/copied to the album with that tag associated to it. This way you could have a set of actual albums that essentially update themselves as you add new images, and that the albums would actually be in the album list on the main view.
As I said though, if this were too difficult, then simply having the ability to sort albums based on tags by utilizing a feature of the organize module would be great.

One could create a module ( similar to the G2 link item module) that would have albums/links to the tags albums.
I guess one could create/extend the tags module to be a bit more dynamic in that if you could create a dynamic album with all your 'dog' and 'cat' photos in one album.
than how would this work? Sort by the tag name? 'cat' would come before 'dog'? I'm still not getting the concept.

Just a simple sort. Images with tag cat would go in one album. Images with tag dog would go in a different album.
