Hi all,

Firstly thanks to all the developers who've made this what it is already.

I'm having some problems with the search functionality of Gallery and was hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on where to start. The main problem is that the search routine is almost too clever in that it doesn't just search for full words. For instance if you search for 'male' then quite happily the search routine returns all males and females!

I understand there's been a fair amount of work that's gone into this topic but nothing seems to have been finished. Does anyone know what came of this project for instance.

I've also been having a look at the search module code but am a bit baffled by it, notably this comment in GallerySearchInterface_1_0.class .

Quote:
This is an interface for the search module. Modules that wish to work with the Search module must provide a class that implements this interface.

I was expecting to find the search algorithm there but am now stumped as to where to look for it.

I am planning on using the full text search that MySQL provides just as Adam Pflug suggested.

Any help on where to get started would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Rob

Nothing came of Boolean search so you are on your own. You are welcome to work on it if you feel like it.

I do remember some thread where someone posted a hack for this, but I can't find it right now. You can try digging through these posts:
