Hi everyone, I just installed gallery on my server, I set it up to use the spanish languge and now I noticed that a lot of the words in spanish have a quote (') between the letters. Some of these quotes I noticed were input to try to imitate the original spanish accent (á, é, í, ó, ú). But they just make it look a little bit silly (sorry about that). Anyways, this is not the only case, I saw other words which are not supposed to have accents, using the same quotes between letters.

I tried doing a search on the package to see where the language files are stored and just noticed that it is not stored anywhere, I guess this new package of gallery uses and external service or something (I'm sorry, i have not been using gallery for a while so I am kind of lost).

Anyways, whichever the case is, I will be glad to put my self in for some language translation in spanish (my native language), but I am not sure if what I am seing is a bug, or just a very bad translation :S

would appreciate any orientation.
Regards, Jose R. Lopez

Hi Jose,

The plain-text translation files are in the po folder of Gallery 1.4.x
Please contact the current spanish translator, or write a mail to

.

And/or write a post in the spanish topic.

Regards,

jens

Hi Tim_J, thank you, I located the files now. However I don't see anything wrong with the translations, all accents are properly placed, so I am assuming now this is a server/php related problem. I saw while installing the software there is an option "magic_quotes" which should be off for the script to work properly, and on my server it is off.

So I have no idea why the text displayes these quotes in the middle of lot of words.

I am going to email the support for my dedicated server but if you could give me any hint on why this might be happening I appreaciate it.

And count me in if you guys need any help translating the script.

My server is a Virtual Private Server
FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE-p7 #19: Thu i386
PHP Version 4.3.2

I noticed that on the sites with gallery installed which give sme the option to change the language it happens the same. Even here on the sample gallery, I setup the spanish language and the same happened. So now I am thinking, is this a bug? or is it just my computer? :S
