Tried to attach a .xlsx file to a forum post and got this message:
-----
The selected file metadata.xlsx can not be attached to this post, because it is only possible to attach files with the following extensions: jpg jpeg gif png txt doc xls pdf ppt pps zip gz tgz.
-----
Would it be possible to allow .docx, .pptx, .xlsx, etc. files?
I ask, because it is a .xlsx file, containing keywords, which is failing, and I cannot show that to people if I cannot upload it.
Thanx!

Are you using the bulk upload plugin? Either way I'm betting the problem is that you're using a format that Gallery can't read anyway. Try saving the file down to an older version of XLS and importing that.

Nope, just attempting to upload the single file, using the File Attachment that is below every 'Post new comment' area.
I am requesting that those file types be enabled for attachment (unless there is a security issue), as they are the most current file types for Excel, Word and Powerpoint. That is enabled for attachment to forum posts, which is why I am posting in this forum, not the G2 trouble-shooting forum. ;-)

Why? I think we should allow less formats.
Images to show examples of the behavior one desires or sees.
text to show logs and errors.
Can't your program (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) save it in the acceptable formats?
I don't see a reson why the forums should support other formats, or am I missing a reason?
Dave

Why not just zip the file? What am I missing?

I'm not sure why a 9-week old thread has been dug up, but this does not have to do with Gallery, but the forum in which you see this message.
Specifically, as stated in the first message, it makes little sense to allow an older format Windows file -- such as .xls, .doc, etc. -- to be uploaded, but not the current format Windows files. (Or, more accurately, files with the current extensions.)
But whatever. Moot, nine week old, no longer relevant point ...

Yes, we get that. You can zip the files.

A spammer did that.
