Can't access Gallery - 500 internal server error

The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful):
Gallery version:1.5.10
Apache version: Perl 5.8.8
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 4.4.8
Graphics Toolkit: netpbm
Operating system: XP
Web browser/version (if applicable): Win 8.0

Hello,
I cannot get to my Gallery and am suddenly getting the following error message:

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.

I read another forum entry on this same thing and tried changing the Permissions of the album directory but it did not work.

The Hosting company is not cooperative--won't touch "third party" apps.

Is there anything I can do besides re-installing?

For error 500 codes you need to check the error logs on the server to see what it says.

I can't get to those with our hosting service. I'll have to contact them again and see what comes up. I'll do that Monday and post another comment...
