Need to upgrade from 1.4.2 to something newer - what are my options?

I have a friend who needs me to upgrade her "Powered by Gallery v1.4.2-RC1 " because her host no longer supports the database - or something like that - they say I need to upgrade the script - What are my options to have a similarly running photo setup? I have never installed Gallery but have extensive Joomla, PHPBB2, Drupal, etc installations. Is there a way to upgrade within? |
