Cannot upgrade from 2.3 to 2.3.1

Gallery version (not just "2"): 2.3
PHP version (e.g. 5.1.6): 5.3
PHPInfo Link (see FAQ):
Webserver (e.g. Apache 1.3.33):
Database (e.g. MySql 5.0.32):
Activated toolkits (e.g. NetPbm, GD):
Operating system (e.g. Linux):
Browser (e.g. Firefox 2.0): 3.5.7

I uploaded all files version 2.3.1 over the old files then I open my site:
http://lnx.sinapsi.org/wordpress/gallery/upgrade/
and I went through first step, but when goes to step 2 it blocks forever. (see image)

I checked chmod 777 in my gallery/g2data????/ folder.
The big problem now is that I cannot enter my gallery site since if I try:
http://lnx.sinapsi.org/wordpress/gallery/main.php
I see the maintenance mode message.

I removed the line "maintenance" from versions.dat, but the problem is the same,
if I open:
http://lnx.sinapsi.org/wordpress/gallery/main.php
the upgrade process starts but it stops forever at step 2.

PARTIALLY SOLVED:
I COULD GO THROUGH STEP 5 SINCE I CHOOSE A PHP.INI SUITABLE TO GALLERY,
BUT NOW I STOPS IN STEP 6: CANNOT EMPTY CACHE, RMDIR TELLS THAT THE FOLDER:
gallery/g2datajf84jf7eo/cache/entity/0
IS NOT EMPTY.
How could go over?
SOLVED! I WAITED A WHILE EVEN IF SHOWING THAT WARNING, THEN ALL WENT THROUGH THE LAST STEP!
