need an index page!

Is it possible to generate an index page with just album names and descriptions, with sub-albums?

Turning on tree , does not help the top page becomes cluttered. But an index page would be great(not thumb nails). I have
851 pictures in 15 albums but many sub albums. I currently manage using post nuke with links to most popular
pages but that is time consuming since I cut&paste link from gallery into postnuke "Menu" items.
