Visual Embedding/Intergration

Hi, I'm building a website for a friend and have produced this http://www.jmbphotographic.co.uk/, I have installed Gallery 2 http://www.jmbphotographic.co.uk/gallery/main.php and have tweaked the NZDI theme as far as I possibly can. I've trawled this site looking for answers with no luck.

I am wanting to basically place the gallery into a table so it looks the same as the main site (i.e. within the paler green box). I've tried for upwards of 5 hours and been through 3 re-installs and can't for the life of me work out how to do it.

I've edited the CSS file and tried editing the theme.tpl file but whenever I do the whole gallery stops working. I've tried everything I can think of.

My knowledge of PHP is basic but I can recognise bits, I have no idea how to use Smarty and have attempted to install it on the server to try it out but that baffled me! I would greatly appreciate any help to get me over this last hurdle!

none of the css works, it doesn't fit, the breadcrumbs carve up the header! i'm getting very stressed with this, i've even tried installing smarty but i can't even get that to work!
