I would like to see n (say 6) albums (or subalbums) that have highes rate, on my main page regardles who is the owner, or how deep is the album (sub-album) in the gallery structure.
Is this possible?
Floridave created two modules that might get you in the right direction:
- Menu Links
allows you to create a new front/home for G3 (fx your graded and sorted front)
- About
Creates a blank page that you html from a field in admin. (This way you have a new front and the orginal front intact, so you just need the html code for what you want to plug inside this field)...
thanks for good tips!
but I think those are for G3, and I use G2.
precisely, I need a view on my main page that would show:
- n (3-4) newest (updated) albums
- n (3-4) albums with highest rates
in both cases albums or subalbums regardles who is the owner, or how deep is the album (sub-album) in the gallery structure.
do you have any ready-to-use solution for G2?
or maybe you know someone that could develop such view for me (for appropriate fee)?
you can get in touch with me directly by email:

should I move to G3? is there some functionality I will lose or should wory about moving from G2 to G3?
(I am just building the site, so I do not have any real data to export/import)

You have to make that decision. Install both and see.
G2 has lots of modules and themes but comes with complexity and resource requirements for speed.
G3 is fast and simple but does not have all the bells and whistles yet.
>> I would use the image block that you can set to the newest items and the image block to the highest ratings items.
could you please give me some more details how to set it up in G2?
also I do not see how can I change settings at the main page (main gallery) and not in the sub-galleries, could you help me on this?

Have you installed the image block module?
Have you installed the ratings module?
If you have then add the imageblock to 'Blocks to show in the sidebar ' via; Edit album, theme tab.

Then you can set the quantity and the type.
yes, I did this and it works fine (no "highest rated" option though) at the sidebar,
but I need to have it on the main page (right side), not sidebar.
can I do it somehow?
I guess the ratings module does not do that. I thought it does.
If you goto the admin page of the imageblock it give examples of how to use externally. You can pot that code in a customized theme to show on the right.
But the meidablock from flashyourweb will be a better option in my opinion.

Concider this for a start:

zledwon,
You can sort the root album order. Also there is a dynamic album that will show the top rated albums.

I would use the image block that you can set to the newest items and the image block to the highest ratings items.
There is also a better way to do this:
http://www.flashyourweb.com/staticpages/index.php?page=mediaBlock
or the minislideshow
