[Notification] Email on Album Addition Only

I'd like to modify this module to enable an email to be sent when an album is added only. The closest option already there is the 'item added' portion of the notification module; in fact maybe it's easier to modify it instead. I have no idea where to start. If this is already built in, an explanation on how to set it up would be great.
