Hey peeps,
I'm looking for tips on creating a robust workflow for managing my photos between Lightroom and gallery. I'll just set out what I'm trying to do, then y'all can tell me how noobish I am and what the proper way is to do things. :P
From my limited grasp of reality, I'd like to do the following:
- Backup my RAW files from Lightroom to DNG
- Export my files to Gallery (with lossless compression AND EXIF/IPTC metadata i.e. TIFF or DNG)
- Watermark the JPEG versions of my Gallery files (i.e. resized versions visible to guests)
- Allow printing/downloading of lossless format (TIFF or DNG) without the watermark for privileged users/purchasers.
Exporting to DNG is simple enough from Lightroom, but currently I don't think there's a gallery image toolbox that supports DNG (please correct me if I'm wrong). I think the Gallery Lightroom plugin is excellent, except for the fact that it can only export in JPEG format. I can upload TIFF files to gallery and let ImageMagick do the conversion, but right now the metadata is lossed in the TIFF -> JPG conversion. And even if the conversion did work, I'm not sure whether the printing to shutterfly option will use the original TIFF file or the full size JPG.
Can anybody help me in my confusion?
