I have been working on speeding up my site and wonder if folks could have a quick spin through and report on performance as well as which country they are in. Steps involved using the accelerator, preloading images in the background, tuning MySQL and Apache as well as installing Nginx as a reverse proxy server to Apache. Still got some work to do on getting the best out of Nginx but I think there is already a boost. Most pages should load almost instantly. Thanks -- |

Try again ... I was tweaking (removing the "v" & "d" from my htaccess).
Should be a bit slower ;)

Took this up a step by bypassing the redundant/performance sapping G2 "image firewall" and using Nginx to serve images directly from g2data while denying external access to the folder.
Getting the preloads to work with this setup was hard but finally managed to crack it. Will do a write up on process once things settle.
Not benchmarked against a default install but certainly feels even snappier and the server load has plummeted ... All good.
Looks like I am firmly in the 20% that will be sticking with G2 to the bitter end
