I was going to migrate the gallery1.3 to 2, but to do that I needed to upgrade to 1.5 first.
I installed 1.5, no problems. upload 3 images, it shows a square only... I copied over all files to the 1.3 gallery, was asked to upgrade, did that...now the entire gallery has squares...
this gallery1.3 was tared and moved from another server, and could not pass the setup stage (stuck at "click to go to next page, on the first configure page).
another way is to upgrade my working gallery (did not really want to do that) to 1.5, then tar and move over...
I had no problem installing g2 on 2 machines, and they both work...but i wanted to have the old images since there are too many (over 600) to upload by hand to g2 manually.
I did not reboot the freebsd machine after installing imagemagick from the ports. not sure if that is causing this. but configure did not complain...
The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://g1.cyberbee.net/
Gallery version: 1.5.10 (This version of Gallery was released on 11/17/08. )
Apache version: 2.2
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): PHP 5.2.12 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.7 (cli)
Graphics Toolkit: ImageMagick
Operating system: Freebsd 8.0-p2
Web browser/version (if applicable):

Make sure the images are in the right place. This is one image and it doesn't appear to be on the server:

thanks. I noticed that in my gallery dir, it has album, not albums...so I renamed the dir...now the highlight image shows...but gallery complains I changed something...so not even squares...I put all the images under gallery/album[s] previously and told gallery so...maybe the config url did not match with the actual path? anyway even before I moved the ton of images over, I uploaded some for testing and it all showed up as squares...

ok, my bad.
had a typo...one had album (for image location), and another albums (the url)...
change them to match, now works...
sorry about that! now I can try to migrate to g2...

what is the correct permission for all the files? it was not working before (upgrade complains not able to write to .lock files). so I changed to group writable (g+r) for everything...is that bad? it might not matter if they are all going to g2...

After you migrate to G2 and have verified everything copied over properly, you can delete all of G1 except for your albums directory and an .htaccess file (if you want any old links to work).

how do I make the captions larger? or is there a way to convert the captions into a field so I have more control... thanks..

I'm not sure what the Caption field from G1 gets translated to in G2 (title, summary, description, etc)
Please start a new topic as your original issue has been resolved. Search the forums first before asking though as I know it's been answered beforee.
