Permalinks & URL rewrite plugins keep deactivating

Permalinks & URL rewrite plugins keep deactivating. When I re-activated them in site admin then all my photo thumbnails get broken. After I go to my wordpress dashboard and click on WPG2, the thumbnails work but plugins get deactivated.

I'm having exactly the same problem. How do I solve it?

The only diference that I can see is that I'm not getting any badly displayed thumbnails.

I have 2 completly separate pairs of WP and G" running on the same server -- only the mysql database server, apache and global configurations are common between them.

I am running gallery 2.3 and WP 3.0

If I turn on the rewrite plugin (again) in gallery, then view the "WPG2 dashboard" in WP, it displays the following message:

WPG2 has automatically deactivated the Gallery2 Rewrite Plugin, to reactive, enable Gallery2 Rewrites in the WPG2 Gallery2 Rewrites Tab.

I can see what it's saying, but i'm niether sure why it's saying it, or what I should be doing about it. Following it literally justs goes round in circles.

Any thoughts?
