Recommendations for modules and version features?

Greetings, I haven't played with Gallery extensively since version 1, and next month I'll be setting it up in my new portfolio site (inside a Joomla CMS wrapper). I'd very much appreciate some opinions on whether I'd be better off with Gallery v2 or v3 at this time, based on the following key requirements, and modules available to do them.

From what I've been reading these features seem to be attainable when using a CMS and Gallery combination; but maybe there's a better module that I haven't spotted, or I've misinterpreted the ability for core Gallery to configure something the way I'm thinking.

Edit: Added the [G2 and G3 modules] I am thinking of specifically.

Image-level viewing permissions (anonymous user sees 12 images, logged in user sees 50)
Tag-based "album" generation (a photo with 3 tags appears in 3 albums sharing the names) [G2:Keyword Albums; Dynamic Album; Replica; G3: BatchTag?]
Tag-based search queries (essentially the same function as the above, just different presentation) [G2:Tags; Search; G3: Tag Cloud]
.
Public facing - anonymous user:
Storefront [G3: Basket]
.
Public facing - logged in user:
Star ratings [G2: Rating]
Save to My Favourites [G2 & G3: Favorites; AddThis]

I am capable of building my own modules given enough time, but I'd certainly like to get the site rolling as soon as reasonable. I think getting the user account data synced between the CMS and Gallery will be the first challenge.

Regards,
-A

G3 is still a release candidate and no integrations yet exist.
G2 is fully mature with many modules already.

Ah, no CMS bridges yet for G3? I hadn't searched for that, thanks.
Shall see if I can contribute anything to that end when it's ready.
