I am told that some of the characters in Windows-1252 encoding do not get decoded properly, because this encoding is not supported and it looks like it will not be supported in the future. There probably exist other character encodings which are also not supported. And so some of the existing IPTC info uploads into Gallery 3 with some of the characters garbled.
When I use characters from Windows-1252 directly in Gallery 3, they are recognized and displayed correctly.
And so if it was possible to edit caption/description directly in Gallery 3, the problem of garbled characters could be rectified.
Amazing World - full of unexpected surprises!
