can i upgrade to 2.3.1? i tried to with the upgrade process and it said i have the latest but the latest G2 install i just finished is 2.3.1

Those xml "backups" are stored in your g2data directory. But please do NOT rely on them. I've never had any good luck restoring them. If G2 was still in active development it would be fixed, but since all development efforts are now focused on G3, it's unlikely to ever get fixed in G2 since it's not effecting security.

FAQ: How do I backup G2?

Going through and clearing up some posts in my queue....

PHP 5.2.12 is fine for G3, don't know the rest of your specs for the server though. But PHP 5.2.12 is newer than 5.2.3
