Just looking to edit the html for the about page I've set up in gallery...have been searching but can't find it on the server files. Can you give an address to carry out this function?

From the docs:
"Configure the module: Settings -> About page. You will be able to add text/html for your page. Save "

@adding meta tags: we have a app module for that: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:custom_header

I have an about page at siteadmin/display/about. Is this the address you are referring to? The html code there for colour seems to display along with entered text...

Also does this work with Gallery2..?
