I would like some suggestions. It's been awhile since I've upgraded my Gallery. I am currently using version 1.5.10. I came here tonight to download the latest version. I'm a little confused by all the versions. Can I get some help and feedback on which version is right for my website?

Is version 1.5.10 still being upgraded? Should I keep this version?

If I was to upgrade, can I upgrade to version 2 or 3 from my current version? If so, how? What would you recommend as far as which version I should upgrade to or use. Should I just stay with the version I have? My Gallery has about 1000 photos.

Where can I see an working sample of version 3?

You can upgrade migrate to V2 then to V3
You can also import images form V1 to V3.

Should I just stay with the version I have?

Gallery 1 is no longer maintained and very little supported. No new versions will happen, no updates, no security fixes if anything is found. G2 and G3 are the only supported and maintained versions of Gallery right now.

You can migrate to G2. To migrate to G3 you'd need to migrate to G2 first. There is no direct migration path from G1 to G3.

Depends on what you do with your current Gallery. G3 doesn't have all of the features G2 currently has. But if you're just hosting photos and don't have a bunch of users, sell photos, etc. G3 might be a better fit in the long run or even right now, even with the 2 step migration.

Long long time since I have been on here but decided to try G3, wow easy or what.....
Just a quick question from above "You can also import images form V1 to V3"
How do I do that?

Regards Steve

not directly. You'll need to migrate to G2, then to G3 if you want to keep descriptions, keywords, comments, users, etc.

If you don't care about anything except photos and album structure, then you can user the Server add option in G3 to import the photos from G1. If I were to do that, I'd probably make a backup of your albums directory from G1, remove all thumbs and resized versions and then import into G3 from that backup that's been cleaned up.

Should read '"You can also import images from V1 to V3"'
using the server add module. It will only import the photos not the metadata.

in case you experience difficulties migrating g2->g3 after migrating g1->g2 may want to try the following:

there is a direct migration path from G1 to G3 (without using G2)
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/102190

you can migrate from G1 to G3 simply by using the G1 import module in G3
