what is the status of the "Gallery 2.3 upgrader"? i have created a new gallery and i cannot maintain it b/c it has been prompted to go through an upgrade. the "upgrade" has been sitting on step 3 (system check) of the 7 steps for the last 24 hrs. please advise.

Did you have a running install then it started doing this?

Who's your host?

That usually happens when 1 of 2 things happen. Someone or something deletes your g2data/versions.dat file or someone or something has set permissions so that Gallery cannot read it.

To fix that we'll need to know exactly what version you had/have installed. If you haven't done an "upgrade" then the version info in your modules/core/module.inc file is probably correct. What does it list for your version? 1.3.0.1? or just 1.3.0?

hi, thank you for responding.

the gallery in question was created and installed, but as soon as i logged in, in order to upload images, it prompted me to a "2.3 Upgrader". the upgrade never completed it's process either. i left it along and it sat on step 3 "database back up" for DAYS.

i had to create the gallery in question b/c the first one i created had broken thumbnail images. over much communication with Menalto, the problem was never resolved, so i deleted it and created a new gallery.

this is the gallery location
http://mozartsmurals.com/bluedog (prompts me to do an upgrade when logging in as site admin)

also problem with this gallery
http://mozartsmurals.com/canvases (broken thumbnail images, initial problem with both galleries)web host is EasyCGI
both galleries state v.2.3.1

i have 3 other galleries that work fine, all v.2.2.5.
please advise on both problem galleries.

For the one that's prompting for the upgrade check permissions on your g2data directory and verify that a versions.dat file exists at the root of your g2data directory.

For the one that's working, post your system information:
FAQ: What information is required when I ask for help in the forums?

And a link to phpinfo:

2. how do i find the g2data directory for the gallery that is prompting the upgrade? in order to check the permissions and verify versions.dat file exists?

3. i created a phpinfo file (in Word, is that correct?). how do i upload the phpinfo file to gallery2 directory on my server?

thank you.

That path is specified in config.php

I doubt Word will create the plain text file needed unless you've jumped through a few hoops. Use notepad and follow this:
FAQ: How do I create a phpinfo page?

Then post a link to it because I don't know where you put it.

Oh, IIS, are you the administrator of the server? If not, you're probably going to have to ask your host about changing permissions on files because you can't do that via FTP on Windows.

Re #2: how do i look up "config.php" in order to view the path for permissions and version verification?

Re #3: i have now created a phpinfo notebook file. it is in my C:/. how do i upload it to the gallery or post the link? the instructional link you sent does not go into detail as to "how to" upload/post.

i am the admin of the server.

these problems have been going on for weeks now. i am very frustrated. can i just create 2 new galleries (2 replace the problem galleries) under the old gallery gversion (v.2.2.5)?

config.php is at the root of your G2 sites.

for phpinfo.php put that at the root of your G2 site as well and post a link. Just like you posted a link to your bluedog and canvases sites.

o.k. how did you get Gallery onto your website to begin with?

Do you use FTP or is this server local to you and you just copy files using Windows Explorer?

I use Install Central on my web host's (EasyCGI) control panel, in order to create the galleries. after the install of the new gallery is complete, the path is created for me and then i insert the path into my actual website.

So you're not the administrator of the server. By administrator, I meant you have the ability to install software, reboot the server, etc. This isn't going to work on Windows without you contacting your host to ask them to check and set permissions so the webserver can write to your g2data directory.

To find out what directory that is, download your config.php file in an FTP client or your host's control panel's file manager (maybe you can set permissions there, but I kind of doubt it for a windoze host). Config is at the root of your gallery site: http://mozartsmurals.com/canvases/config.php
