In these forums? Us moderators can and I think, though I'm not sure if the original poster can.
When you click on Edit at the top of the first post, then scroll down do you have a "Comment Settings" option?

I am an owner of the post, but I do not see the option to lock the post (Subscription and Attachment only)
my theme's topic is over 500 comments, and I want to span it into new thread to make it smaller

I thought the original poster could adjust the 'Authoring information' when you click edit. perhaps not.
Let us know the old topic to lock and the new topic to point users to to make life better for all.
