Hi
I am very, very new to this topic and have designed a website using Justhost.
I have followed all the instructions ( I think) for installing Gallery2 through Fantastico Deluxe.
However, when I try to point to the conifguration file on my site, I get the message "Oops the link appears to be broken"
Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?
I appreciate any help you can offer - I am completely clueless!!

Never install anything using fantastico ... deluxe or plain vanilla. Most hosts tend not to keep it up to date and so you get outdated software with security implications and bugs as well.

well, thankyou for the link, BUT I still haven't managed to get the gallery working. I am wondering if I am uploading the file to the right location on the server?
I'm not very familiar with ftp transfers either and when it asks me for a path I am leaving this blank in the hope that it is the root directory.
when I try to point my browser to "http://www.yourwebsite.com/preinstall.php" I still get the link appears to be broken message.
Any ideas?

Replace "yourwebsite.com" with the actual name of your website.

Thanks Dayo - already did that. That's when I get the broken link message.

Point your host to the preinstaller file you want to use and ask them how to get it to the root folder of your site assuming that is where you want to install Gallery.

Hello
I'm back again - still having trouble!
I have finally successfully installed Gallery 2.3.1 and can use it as a stand-alone system - have uploaded photos etc.
However, I don't know how to link it to my website. If I create a link I can go to the gallery, but can't move around from webpage to page and back.
I've not seen gallery in action on any sites, so maybe I'm missing something, but I thought that it would be available as a page on my site?

Wow! thankyou very much for that
But I was thinking more of keeping the gallery in it's current format, but linking it to my site in a better way. At the moment I have made a link and users have to click on a picture to see the Gallery in a separate window. they can't then navigate back easily to the original pages. Is there an easy way to link the gallery and the site and make navigation easier for people?
If there isn't I will certainly try the solution you have given me above..
