Remove space between thumnail and link?

I'm trying to remove the large space between my album thumbnails and the titles/links under them (see attached image 'bad-album-item-spacing.jpg'). The code shows nothing between the image and title/link (see 'bad-album-item-code.jpg') but the CSS shows the thumbnail width and height under "null" below the style for "gallery-thumb" (see 'bad-album-item-css.jpg').

As far as I know, anything shown under "null" is a setting made in the admin panel (?), but I can't find the thumbnail sizes anywhere. The actual thumbnail size isnt 180px anyway, it's 150px, which is set in Edit Album in the Gallery top level.

I've tried the fix shown at http://gallery.menalto.com/node/99166 but that simply moves the thumbnail below upwards so that it covers up the title/link.

I'm confused! How do I get rid of the space between album thumbnails and the titles/links?
