New Php Shopping Cart Customization

About a month ago I tried to use gallery to sell wedding proofs on my website. I couldn't find a non-paypal shopping cart that I could easily plug-in, customize and control. Therefore I went about wrtiting my own php shopping cart to be implemented through gallery. It's not all that clean yet (as I haven't had time to go back through the code) but it works beautifully and I can tell users exactly how to install it.

If anyone is frustrated with their attempts at shopping cart addage, please feel free to check out my site:

http://visualmystique.com/gallery/wedding

and let me know if you want to give it a try! BTW. If you want to take the shopping cart all the way to the end in a demo try. Please put "Gallery Test" as your name in the shopping cart checkout forms, so I don't charge you money!

Also, if you find an error when running my shopping cart (which may happen) please let me know! Thanks!

Thanks for everyone's response. It feels good knowing that I might be able to help some people who were just as frustrated as me in trying to get a non-paypal cart. I'll clean up the code and post it sometime this weekend with installation instructions.

Until then!

Well done.
It looks very good and works perfectly. What is the shopping cart you are using?
I like the option to order from thumbnails rather than having to click into the fullsize images. I currently use ImageFolio and Photobox to have a gallery that can take credit card orders and get them fulfilled by a lab, but I would like to move to Gallery 1 or 2, plus a shopping cart, some watermarking, and borders if I can. You can check out the site here at ww.jerseyevents.com

I love the nice borders on the photos. How did you achieve the bordered look?

The only change I would make if possible is to allow bulk photo selection at the thumbnail level. ie just have a single size selector at the top /bottom of the page and a single order button, but have a checkbox under each photo so that some or all the photos could be ordered in a single go. I had not thought about this until a customer told me of the frustration of trying to order 20 photos by going back and forth to the shopping 20 times!

I look forward to seeing your instructions.

Thanks
Jon

Please add me to the list as well. I was looking for something to do the EXACT same thing you did, but couldn't even find a PayPal cart. Does one exist that uses PayPal?

Very nice job!
This is what I have been looking for. Please add me to the list. I work for a newspaper and we are looking at selling photo reprints online and this seems to be a very good solution for us.

loved what you did with your shopping cart as well as images. But can i ask you a very general question? How did you get your pictures to have a big white border with a shadow. I think that looks very elegant and would like to do that with my wedding pictures. Please advise :)

Thanks

the newest 1.4.1 CVS versions of gallery have a 'frames' option that allows you to easily change the border around your images.
check out my thread that helped it's inclusion (or so my ego is telling me :D ).
you can download the newest version of gallery and try it, or you can use my download and follow the instructions it contains.

or you can wait for sairez to reply.

oh, and to sairez, the shopping cart looks pretty nice. :)

Can you send me the code or URL to it? Are you releasing it under the GPL?

I've been following this for a while now, just a quick query, is it near release? Just what the doctor ordered for our voluntary organisations.

Brilliant well done!

I went back to the site and I don't see the pulldowns any more, but I still see the view cart button, was it removed or is this a bug?

Your shopping cart mod looks great, but there is one thing I think you might want to change, and that is the shipping calculations. It seems that no matter what size prints or what quantity you order the shipping stays at 3.95 until you add a 11x13 and then the shipping starts to change. The only other thing I would change is the fact that every time you click on add to cart you are forced to go to your cart.

Keep up the great work and when you release the code let me know.

thanks.

I REALLY want to apologize for keeping people waiting so long. Grad school has really gotten in the way of my releasing the code. This past weekend I updated the code for newer versions of gallery and started to package it up. It will take me at least another weekend maybe two to finish up. I will get it up as soon as I can.

Thank you to all the people have stayed interested in the project.

If you are really an advanced gallery user, anxious to get the code and willing to work for it. I'll send you the code as I have it right now. You would have to search through all my code and replace static variables, and definitely do some problem solving in making the install. It won't be for the faint of heart. Please send me an email at

if you are really anxious and I'll send it to you dirty.

Hello,

I'm very interested as well. I'm working on a web site for a photographer that has a ton of images. I was going to use PayPal, but this might be a better option.

Please let me know at

Thanks in advance!

I have requested it a couple of times and don't have it either, the author must be busy. I would be nice to have a link to a zip if she is unable to email it indiviually, there is certainly enough interest! :)

bug:
clicked on http://visualmystique.com/gallery/wedding and placed a order. the "Cart > Shipping/Billing Information " site came up and then i clicked on the "place your order" button without having typed in anything in the HTML form. it worked.
-> add some html Form validation.
if you need help with it, mail me.
