Migrating from Gallery 1 to Gallery 3?

The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL: http://www.undrground.org/gallery/index.php
Gallery version: 1.5.7
Apache version: Apache/2.2.14 (Unix)
PHP version: PHP 5.2.11 (cli) (built: Sep 21 2009 14:49:09)
Graphics Toolkit: ImageMagick
Operating system: CentOS release 5.4 (Final) 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5xen

This may be a simple question.

Is there currently an upgrade path from Gallery 1.5 to Gallery 3? I recall an import function in gallery2, from gallery 1, but i wasnt overly impressed with gallery 2. So I stuck with Gallery 1. I'm not considering moving right to 3.

I apologize if this is a repeat question.

Hello Gangrif,

unfortunately the answer is "no".
There is currently no direct upgrade from G1 to G3.

That's too bad.

I was reluctant to migrate from G1 to G2 because G2 was too big for my purpose. However I am enthusiastic to see the new G3 and would love to migrate my stuff from G1 to G3 - and I bet I am not the only one who feels like this.

Installing G2 only for the purpose to dump it right away after migrating to G3 seems to make only little sense to me.

So I would like to encourage the development team to create a direct migration path from G1 to G3.
Hmmm - maybe it would be a good idea to place this as a polite feature request in the G3 forum...
