Hi:

First, the Gallery product is really good. Really enjoy it. Have a number of people who use it and it works really well.

I showed the product to some people at work and we were think that perhaps it might solve a business need for us.

1. Could it support user limits. In other words, could we set limits of how much disk space each user could have. Perhaps via a LDAP query (best for us).

2. Has anyone tried using a MMS capable wireless device (cellular) to add photos? How hard do you think it would be to add this capability?

3. Could the login process use an external database via LDAP or Liberty Protocol?

Thanks.

Kevin

User quotas coming in v1.4.1. Right now it will be set via the Gallery user management interface. But an LDAP interface to user info in general might be a nice idea. (Submit a feature request.)

We're investigating a handful options to getting MMS support going. It'd be really cool. If you have specific suggestions, we're interested. Also, ask in the Customization Forum. There's been a bit of MMS discussion there, though I'm not sure if anyone is working on something right now.

Gallery 2 will be better able to handle external user data. For Gallery 1, the easiest way to override the Gallery user login is to add support for another "embedded" system (as is done for the Nukes right now). It would require a good amount of code reworking, but I wouldn't classify it as a "difficult" task.
