Language Packs 1.4.1

The Language Packs for Gallery 1.4.1 final are available at Gallerys Download Page on Sourceforge.
The are synced against latest changes and a lot languages were updated.Since Version 1.4 Gallery has multilanguage capabilities.
In Gallery 1.4 we shipped ALL languages with the release.
Witht Version 1.4.1 we changed this behaviour. Now Gallery uses so called "language packs". This means Gallery itself is shipped without any additional language.
If you want to have displayed your Gallery in another language than english you have to download the corresponding package.

The advantage is that you can decide which language you want and we can update the packages separately.

After downloading the package tarball you should extract it. You will get a folder called _.
Put this folder into the locale folder of your gallery. Then just reconfigure Gallery to enable the language.

If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me.

Any chance of a "all languages" pack as well please?

SourceForge is not the easiest place to download multiple files from,

Taomyn

Found by using FTP I could get the files more easily but a single file would still be handy.

However, after downloading them all and copying them into the locales folder, the configuration states the following:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Warning

There are 14 locales that Gallery was unable to locate. You may need to select manually date formats.

Dates in 19 languages may not be formatted properly, because the corresponding locales are missing. You may need to select manually the date formats for these.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I then set various locales to "english" in the "Locale Selection required" section, and also set all the locales in the "Locale
problems" section to "uk".

Finally, I get this error and have to revert to just one langauge yet again:

Error: Missing value: locale_alias[es_ES]!
Error: Missing value: locale_alias[nl_NL]!
Error: Missing value: locale_alias[pt_PT]!
Error: Missing value: locale_alias[sv_SE]!
Error: Missing value: locale_alias[uk_UA]!

Please fix this,
Please report this in the translations forum

Yeah, sorry.

I sadly noticed polish translation is mostly unaltered since last release, which, unfortunately means that it still exposes incorrect translation, incorrect orthography(!) and general misunderstanding of the texts by person who tried to translate it (i.e. "Results breakdown" is equal to "Broken results" for the "translator"). I've commited huge patch to the polish translation that addresses most of the flaws but it seems it remains unused. However it's up to developers how or if the patches are accepted, I still wonder if they'd like to see people loudly laughing at they application whenever new 'translated' message appears.

Hi,

this does not make sense.
Because some languages are available in different encodings.

And i know that we will have a lot user posting troubles with this.

If you want detail information, post a question in the forum and i will answer in detail.
Hi,

the polish translation is very well maintained.
Its done 98.13% which is VERY good.
And i do not agree that there were no changes between RC3 and RC4.

Neither in the language tracker, nor in the patches section, the language Mailing or to me personal a patch arrived.
So i dont know what happens to the text.

And i want to clarify that the developers are definitely not responsible for quality of translations.
I am always happy about updates and thankful if people spend time to work on translations, but since i only understand 2 languages i have no influcence about the quality of foreign languages.

So you can laugh or not, depends on you.

Jens
I don't know how it is maintained, but I am dare to judge the overall quality of the translation from the user perspective. I am not a certified translator but for a God sake, if one is unable to understand what he is reading how can he even think of translating it (not to mention polish grammar or wording is not his strong side either)?
I used to maintain software translation for years and I know that it's not an easy task, but I am also against bungling, no matter it's paid or offered for free.

As for my patches - I browser FRE, BT and Patches on Gallery's trackers and indeed, found no sign of my commitments. Dunno if it was removed or SF crashed badly someday and ate this one, but I was informed it was incorporated into repository. Please fetch the latest: http://wfmh.org.pl/~carlos/pl_PL-gallery.po.tgz

PS: I understand the maintainers of pl_PL may consider my patches 'crappy' by default, considering I'm not sending them kudos, however I strongly hope they can review it without personal prejudices, to improve the overall quality of Gallery as the product.

Hi,

i am sorry, but i cant use your file. Its for 1.4 and a diff.

I would like you to do the changes to current 1.4.1 files and send me the -po files.

I prefer Mail.

Regards and thanks,
Jens

I am afraid I cannot afford so much time again for manual conversion. I assume all other languages have been somehow converted between 1.4 and 1.4.1, and that not necessarily was manual job. So, yes it's a diff, but you can easily apply it agains pl.po from release 1.4 and then do the automatic conversion. I then can review the file to check it's all fine, but since my patch fixes or modifies at least 50% of polish texts from 1.4, doing this again from a scratch would be an overkill. I am also open to any alternative solutions I've probably missed at this point, unless it'd require two weeks of my time ;)

Regards

I downloaded the language pack for german de_DE.
i did this folder in the local folder of my gallery. i startet the setup but there is still the english one.
