The following information is required to get an answer: I'm a newbie at web-hosting as well as Gallery. I'm trying to install on godaddy.com, and I http://www.letihansen.com/PHPInfo1.jpg And here is the error I'm getting upon config(looks like it can't even open some sort of base directory). http://www.letihansen.com/config.jpg I copied the gallery folder (and all sub-folders) to my base webfolder, and created the 2 Any ideas? Yeah, either give up or change hosts. GoDaddy are notorious for weird server setups and not Gallery friendly at all.

ouch, that sucks. Can you void a contract with a hosting service? Any recommendations? I suppose I could search for that info

Looking at your posty again, it looks like you are confusing your local computer paths with the server ones, but the fact still remains that you are unlikely to get Gallery running on GoDaddy at all.
http://gallery.menalto.com/wiki/Web_Hosting_Referral_Page has a list of "good" hosts, but I don't know if you can wiggle you way out of your current contract.

For everyone else's benefit: I did some further reading, and noticed that people seemed to have better luck when switching their godaddy accounts from a Windows server to a Linux server. So I went ahead and tried that...godaddy makes it very easy (just switch to "Deluxe Hosting with CGI" on your my account page). 4 hours later, and the switch was complete. I ran the configuration again without changing anything, and all of a sudden the config page looked like it is supposed to. No errors about "I can't find this link". There were a few serious warnings, but reading further, I discovered that they had to do with security, and wouldn't affect operation of Gallery. I uploaded NetPBM and JHEAD, and the final config page only had one error concerning the link to JHEAD. I fixed that, ran Gallery, and it works perfectly. Thumbnails, full image viewing, uploading, and all work as intended.
Thanks again for your help...donation on the way.

Gallery works fine on GoDaddy linux hosting, even with economy plan.
The easy way to create Gallery on GoDaddy is to do it with GoDaddy Metropolis:
1. Login and open your hosting account.
2. Go to Hosting Metropolis
3. Install Gallery (include all configurations)
4. After installation, login to Gallery, go to Admin Options -> Modules. Install and activate ImageMagick. Path for ImageMagick is /usr/bin/ (version 5) or /usr/local/bin/ (version 6)
That's it. Works fine.

As a newbie, my recent experience at godaddy was quite positive. I installed using FDP, since Metropolis didn't work for me (suspect that might have been my Konqueror browser). Pretty much worked out of the box.
