I can't d/l the theme. I am using the address http://www.lvthunder.com/greypop12.zip. One of the earlier posts said something about d/l trouble with IE. I am using IE at work at the moment. Will try again with firefox at home.... unless address is wrong? Is this the latest version?

You need to edit the file /themes/greypop/js/lightbox.js and change the path to the images.

you mean the:

var fileLoadingImage = "/gallery2/themes/greypop/images/loading.gif";
var fileBottomNavCloseImage = "/gallery2/themes/greypop/images/closelabel.gif";
var fileBottomNavZoomImage = "/gallery2/themes/greypop/images/expand.gif"; //Added by Bas

i changed it, but i still don't have it running. :S

(Thanks for your patience).

What do you mean by a comment function? As far as I know the Comments module works with the theme. If your experience is otherwise please let me know.

I have the comment module enabled...but do not see anywhere on the album or photo page to submit a comment....and the "show comments" link doesn't show up.

OK under Site Admin -> Themes -> Greypop tab add Item Actions to either the sidebar or album and photo views. If you don't want all that stuff you need to edit the tpl files to add the link where ever you want.

Something happened and it looks like your gallery is empty. Add some photos and let me look and I'll try to see what's happening.

Hello all,

I installed the current theme and followed the provided directions to install the theme, activate lightbox, and then swith the theme as my default. The album I left activated as the greypop theme is at the following address:

http://infektid.org/media/v/photogallery/theScene/FromTheWeb/

When the gallery's main theme is greypop, it looks the same. My problem is, that lightbox doesn't seem to be working. The theme looks great on it's own, yet, I want to see the great javascript interface that overlays the albumview; instead of being directed to the individual photo page. I've read through every post in this thread (respectively through searching by keyword), and I can't seem to find anyone else with my problem.

Steps taken to ensure proper settings:
Yes, I did enable the lightbox module; and I made sure the lightbox..er.. box was checked in Site Admin.[/steps]

Also the Album Actions drop-down menu seems to have been affected. I have included the following screen-shot below.

Any help would be much appreciated, as I want to evolve the look of my media gallery.

Thank you in advance,

Z

zan:

Double check that under the settings for the theme you have "Use the lightbox to view photos. Activate the lightbox module before turning this on. This may cause problems if you have things other than photos in your gallery." checked. From what I can tell you don't.

Also it looks like I messed up and included the title.jpg that has my name on it. Be sure to change that.

@lvthunder:

I read the preliminary on making sure the lightbox module was activated before turning it on in the theme; I made sure of it on both (2) installs I did of greypop. How bizarre, I can't see your name or even "title.jpg" all-together. To me (OS X.4.8 - FireFox 1.5) I can't see the image. In Safari I can, which is even more odd. Safari is not processing the frames well at all. Did you also look into the actions drop-down menu?

As far as my media gallery goes: I have not modified g2 at all (other than theme.tpl in my default theme). Any other suggestions?

Thank you.

LV, how can I disable or hide the registration link from showing. We want a show only gallery, no registered users. http://www.leighleighphoto.net

Also, on the light show, the close button disappeared on me somewhere along the way.

And one more question. Is there anyway to get the long description to show up on the light show. Currently I only have something different in the first picture in the first album.

Thanx for all u do!

1. Uninstall the registration module.
2. You need to edit the path to the images in lightbox.js
3. You can. You need to edit the links in albumlight.tpl and the tpl file in the lightbox module. Be careful if your descriptions use apostrophes. That will break it.

OK maybe check the theme options for album. Login and in the album click edit album and I think it's the theme tab check those options. If not can you turn on debug mode and save the contents of the popup window and attach that. I know you don't want to leave debug mode on very long.

My gallery is here: http://mrkryptic.com/gallery/main.php.

Login to your gallery and when you are on the front page click Edit Album. I forget which tab but one of them lets you change the description.

ok, got that sorted out, but when I navigate the pics, the next and previous buttons appear too far away from the actual picture. Picture example:

New issue on this theme. It's very nice and works well (though I've not seen minithumbs or whatever it's called... I gather that only works in IE browsers, which I steer clear of).

I thought it good that the theme allows me to put my own nav links at top. But what I really need is to include my own nav file (nav.inc) and stylesheet for that bar, and also a little javascript that goes with it (I use "suckerfish" drop-down menus). I looked through theme.tpl, found the right spot, but can't figure out how the templates do 'includes'. One just above my spot says

{include file="gallery:`$theme.moduleTemplate`" l10Domain=$theme.moduleL10Domain}

To me, that's gobledegook. Can someone help? I figure if I can do the include for the nav bar, I'll be able to do the same for the .css and the .js where I need them (in the header, of course). And, what locations can I include from, security-wise? I'd like to go from root, so I can include the same files I use on the rest of the site (non-gallery side), but if they have to be in the theme folder, I guess I can maintain two copies (though it's much better not to).

I tried this:
{include file="/includes/nav.inc"}
... but it gave massive security warnings. I'd done it in a copy of theme.tpl placed in graypop/templates/local, as per instrux. When it messed the gallery up, I deleted that whole local folder from the server, and the warning is still there. Hours later! (it's not live yet, of course). How to flush it out of there, I wonder!?? Seems to have cached the local stuff and won't let go! I can't restart the server; it's shared.

So that's really two questions: how to put in the nav includes, and how to straighten out the gallery from running code I've since removed!

Thanks in advance.

I turned the microthumbs into the next and previous buttons on the photo page. The browser doesn't play into it. In the matrix theme they scale the thumbnails down and stick them to the next and previous links.

How do you include the files in your other pages?

As to the security warnings you need to go to Site Admin Then Maintenance and clear the template cache. If you can't get there maybe try copying the original file back to the local folder.

Here's my normal 'include' command:
<?php include("/includes/nav.inc"); ?>
Apparently not allowable from within a theme template. If I try a normal PHP include, I get this error:

Smarty error: [in gallery:themes/greypop/templates/theme.tpl line 61]: syntax error:
unrecognized tag: include("/includes/pro_nav2.inc")

The coding in those templates isn't normal php in that they use curly braces instead of code such as above; no semicolons; structures like "/if." I haven't poked around in Gallery's code much at all, so don't know how to use a normal php include in there.

As I said, using the {include file="xx" l10Domain=$theme.moduleL10Domain} construct did not work at all. My guess is because it calls a file from outside the gallery folder, but??? Don't understand the domain stuff either, obviously. Maybe that parameter is how I'd get it to use a file path starting from my site's root??

The templates are not normal php files. They are Smarty files. I think to add php code you wrap it in {php} {/php} tags.

Thanks. That works. Much obliged. Had to use full file path, though. "/" didn't force include to root level, but I probably should have expected that. So "/home/account/public_html/includes/file.inc" (for my host) was the way to go.

Thanks for the wonderful theme lvthunder! Since I added the 'embed' color pack, so my main background shows through, I'm very happy with it. I still have a question and it concerns how lightbox is implemented into the theme.

To set up my question, I'll note that when I click on a picture, it loads a resized image in lightbox, with a link to the full-sized version (which I suspect is the expected behavior.) Navigating through the next few images, in lightbox, does the same thing. But after about the sixth image, lightbox begins loading smaller images and without a full-size link (Ironically, perhaps, it doesn't do this for smaller resolutions.) What I'm wondering is "how can I change the way this works?" Is there a setting I can change that will load all of the images one way or the other? I'm mostly just curious, but I'm contemplating whether I should try to find a way to load all of the images the same size.

Thanks for the wonderful theme!

The way the theme is setup it will use the resized image if the longest edge is bigger then 650 pixels. If it is lower then 650 pixels or there is no resize available it will use the full size version.

That number is in the theme.inc file if you want to change it. If you provide a link I might be able to tell what the problem is.

The images are all the same size and larger then 650 (2048x1536), so I don't think that's the reason. It just occurred to me, however, that it's switching to the smaller image size when loading images from other pages. My default album layout has 6 images/page and that's the same number of images that it will show before it begins resizing them to be smaller.

So, I took a wild guess that it's loading my previously created resized images (640x640) and deleted them all in a test album. After that, it started resizing them all to the larger image size, with the link to the original included. I was hoping to still be able to browse the resized images without using lightbox, though, so I tried changing lboxMaxEdge in theme.inc to 630 and rebuilt the resized images, but that didn't work. Guess I'll just stick with what I have for now, but thanks for the information.

Btw, is it possible to add an overlay to the thumbnails on mouseovers? I've seen this done elsewhere, although I'm not sure if lightbox will do it?

I'd give you a link to my site, but it's private and so I have to respect my obligation to my members. Thanks for the reply, though. I now know what I'm working with in case I wanna attempt to alter the code later on.

I don't know if it's possible to add an overlay. It took me a very long time to get the overlay working for the Next and Previous microthumbs.

Firstly, thank you for an awesome theme. Secondly, I am trying to remove all spacing around giItemCell but for some reason, it just have a very small spacing between each item.

Here's my site http://www.ngugallery.com/main.php . I want it to look like http://www.photopostdev.com i.e. the way it is tiled without spacing from one item to another. I've just about tear all my hair out messing around with padding and margin for the last 4 hours. Help!

I think I have it working where it will load the original image on neighboring pages in lightbox, rather then the resized image. What I did was to change part of line 17 in Album.tpl and Before.tpl from:

rev="{g->url arg1="view=core.DownloadItem" arg2="itemId=`$peer.resizeid`"}"

to:

rev="{g->url arg1="view=core.DownloadItem" arg2="itemId=`$peer.id`"}"

What I'd like to know is if this is okay and if there are any drawbacks to it? It seems a little slower, but I haven't been able to test it out fully yet.

LVTHUNDER....

I have been a Gallery 1 user for 2-3 years, with lots of mods which keep me at the 1.4.4 level.

After seeing your 'Theme', I have decided to try G2 once again. Much due to the look, but primarily the resizing on the 'Lightbox'.

I seem to have a minor problem with it. I pre-size my images to 1500x1000 (straight out of PS) and have G2 create an add'l resized image of 800x800 (max sides), retaining the original image.

Lightbox works fine for a few images (up to 8-10) resizing to the window size. It then seems to switch to using the 800x800 image...and will continue to use this smaller image until I close Lightbox. On reopening an image, it will use the larger image for a few, then goes back to the smaller (even using images that had been "samller" previously). I have verified that the "full" image is 1500x1000. This happens on both IE and Firefox.

Any ideas on what is happening?

Thanks....JOHN

JRSFORUMS, you seem to be having the same problem I had. What you describe is, I believe, by design.

You can see my hack to only show the full-window-size images in the post immediately above yours. I'm not sure that it's perfect, because I'm still waiting on lvthunder to, hopefully, comment on it, but it seems to be working fine, so far.

Rogun...

I found the line in before.tpl, but not in album.tpl. There was something similar in albumlight.tpl on line 87, but the reference was "$child.resizedId"

Can you give a little more detail...

I meant 'After.tpl', rather then 'Album.tpl'. Both the 'Before' and 'After' .tpl files are located in /modules/lightbox/templates/blocks/.

I used vi to edit them and it gave me line number 17 for both files.

Sorry about the mistake and the confusion.

If I were you guys I wouldn't feed lightbox the full image. All that is going to do is make the browser resize the image smaller and cost you more in bandwidth. Since both of you are having a problem I'm guessing there might be a bug, but since I can't reproduce it on my site I would need access to a gallery that has the lightbox portions of the theme left as is so I can try to see what the problem is.

I have reset my Before/After .tpl changes so you can try there. Mine is just a test site for now, so won't effect anything. Let me know when you have completed testing

http://john.schwaller.org/gallery2

BTW....for me, the bandwidth is not a problem as I resize my images to a max. edge of 1500 pixels and jpeg '8', so the size is ~200-300kb. I do this as I sharpen after resize and have found less pixelization from the java resizing doing it this way.(not all on this test site are that size as it has some old images from an earlier set up)

One thought on your implementation....it might be nice if a selection could be made....by the viewer...to choose a image size to to resize from. This could be as simple as 'small' / 'large' (the site admin would choose which of the possible sizes would be small/large). You can see an example of this in my G1 implementation.
http://john.schwaller.org/gallery

Another side comment to you and any other theme developer....on the photo page, if a choice of image sizes is offered...it would be great if it was "sticky"...i.e. would not reset to the default size when going on to the next/previous image.

My resized images are 640x480, $lboxMaxEdge is set to 650 and it still loads the resized image for images not on the current page.

I have a low-traffic site, so I'm not too worried about using a lot of bandwidth. However, I don't want it to be slow from having to load full-sized images. Even though it seems quite fast to me, I know that doesn't mean it will to everyone, so I may take your advice on not loading the full-sized images with lightbox. Thanks for the advice!

Update: I added 800x600 to my list of resized images and made it the default. It seemed to work fine this way at first, but then clicking on the link to load the full-size image in lightbox will load the 640x480 images for any that aren't on the current page (It still loads the full size for those on the current page though.) Removing the 640x480 size didn't help, because it then loads the 800x600 size when clicking on the full size link and does the same when clicking on the "view photo page" link.

It seems to me that it's grabbing the wrong image id for photos that aren't on the current page, fwiw. I should also mention that my gallery is embedded within drupal too.

*****Oooops....must be too early...I misread your post. I have changed it to 810.**********

My theme.inc has $lboxMaxEdge at line 167. Do I have the correct version (dated 10/04/06)?

What should I change the '650' to? If I have max. edge of 800 (resize) and 1500 (full), does setting it 800 select the 800 size vs. the full? what if I set it to 1500, would it select the 'full', or does it only work with resized image dimensions?

If $lboxMaxEdge can be used to have lightbox choose different image sizes, is it possible to have the user change it and for it to be "sticky" for that session?

LV....

While you are looking at this...can you answer the following.

How can I not print the redundant title/file-name. I prints in 'breadcrumbs' and then again the line below. Are these the same "definition", i.e. what is in breadcrumb is the same as the line below?

thanks again...JOHN

PS....I would want to print, on that second line) the comment/summary (IPTC data) if available.

John, by default the title is both the title and the last line in the breadcrumb. You can remove one or the other if you want. The description though should show up under the title if I remember right. I think there might be a way to have the description field filled in with IPTC or EXIF field when you upload. I'm not sure though since I don't do that. As for the lightbox thing I have to look at it a bit more closely. I think there is a bug there somewhere.

Thanks, LV

I guess I was not clear. I understand that the title & last line of BC are the same. What I would like to do is not print the title as it is redundant with info that is in the BC.

I would like to still print the decription info as it is now, but without the 'title' above it.

Actually, I would like to control what prints. 'Summary' prints under the thumb (and I think is what gets load when you fill in "album description" when creating new album with 'Gallery Remote'...I need to check this). 'Description' will show on the top of the pages, under the title.

I would like to be able to change to have the 'Summary' print under the title (or where the title would be, if I removed it). This would seem easier than trying to automate or manually ensure that 'summary' & 'description' were identical.

While you are looking through lightbox....is it possible to add the printing of 'summary' (or description, for others) to this page (as it 'description' is currently on the photo page). I trid to see if it was available in the EXIF data, but could not find anything that would ('User Comment', for example, is something else).

Thnaks....JOHN
