export capabilities?

Hey folks,

I was just wondering if G2 has some kind of export capabilites (ie. for backup purposes)?

I haven't played with G2 yet, but I have been running a G1 photo album for a while. To satisfy my requirements, I wrote my own little perl script for G1 that added keywords, captions, comments, title, etc. (changes made to pictures in the G1 environment) back to my original pictures through IPTC metadata tags. For me, it's only logical to keep picture metadata (keywords, captions, comments, ...) with the picture (ie. through IPTC metadata tags) instead of having separate text files or databases and complicated mappings.

I did a search in the forums for export capabilities and the search came up empty. Is this true? G2 has no such module?

all there is is an outdated import/export module at:
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:UserContributions#Modules

not sure if it still works at all.

I'm curious. Would it be possible to create a module that could be used to "export to cd" or some such? This would be great for backups as well as allowing me to share my gallery albums with family.

there's already a g2 -> DVD tool.

of course you could create such export tools also as g2 module.
