Someone [b]PLEASEEEEEEEE HELPPPPPPPP [/b]Can ANYONE please tell me can i copy gallery v1.5-RC2 into Dreamweaver CS3 (Version 9) AND WHAT does RC2 mean? ANYONE PLEASE HELP

never used Dreamweaver. Do you want to use it as a text editor?

I have a web site that someone else built - he is no longer available so I'm learnig. I was advised by the company that host our site to use Dreamweaver, I'm a novice. Our site at present has Gallery v1.5-RC2 so to save on my work load I want to know if I can just copy what i have now into Dreamweaver or should i just download Gallery 1.5 and start from sratch? In Dreamweaver I dont have to use code I can use just design and it does the code for me. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLEY APPRECIATED - PLEASE HELP

Dreamweaver, from all I know is a wysiwyg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG) editor. It is not to be used with gallery. You can use it for all other html pages but don't use it for customizing gallery.

1st. I suggest you upgrade gallery to 1.5.7. You will get very little help with such a old version.
Then once that is done then you can come back and ask specific on what you want to do.

Thank you for your advice. Am i right in thinking you are saying I cant edit Gallery using Dremweaver but I could use Gallery within Dreamweaver so it works within my web site like it does now? OR does it mean I cant use Dreamweaver to build my website if I want to keep Gallery?

I have never used dreamweaver. I would not edit gallery files with it is all I am saying.

You said; "use Gallery within Dreamweaver". I don't understand. Gallery is a application on the web server. Dreamweaver is a editor.

Hello Dave
Any chance you can help me now, as before I am a novice. I have built my new web pages in Dreamweaver (not published/uploaded). I have downloaded Gallery 1.5.7 to my computer, as you recommended. I have SmartFTP on my computer to. My present website is with IPOWER the new one will be to. How do I create the pages I want for gallery, how do I load gallery??? My current web site has 3 pages with gallery and I dont know how to create 3 pages in my new website with gallery. thank you.

Upload the files you have created via FTP to your host.
Once you have them there I might be able to help out.
If you don't know how to administer your website this is no the place for help with that.
Have you installed gallery on your site?

thanks for getting back to me. I apologise for not being clearer.
First i am a complete novice - so reading Gallery 1 installation just confusses me completly.
yes i do have gallery 1.5-RC2 on my present site
So i dont know what to do?? Upgrade the present gallry 1.5 OR just install a newer verion on the new web site i have jsut created then copy the relevant albums over from the old site to the new site.
i need to learn this so that I can add gallery pages as and when needed.

Well, either way you need to upgrade gallery. It is up to you if you want to upgrade or if you want to install on a new server and move those items.
We have http://gallery.menalto.com/paidsupport but forums are free and there is the http://gallery.menalto.com/forum/65 services forum, where you can ask for some quotes to get some work done.
