The Gallery 2 Theme Contest is over!

As you might remember the deadline was February, 15. Since then the Gallery team has reviewed all the submissions we have received and the decision has been made.

We are pleased to announce the winners and their prizes:
Overall best theme: 'X_treme' made by Pedro Gilberto (Portugal) - Prize $500
Best simple and uncluttered theme: 'Simplified' created by Chris Schwerdt (USA) - Prize $300
Best Ajax theme: 'Debaser' by Chris Smith (USA) - Prize $300
Best embedded theme: 'NZDI' developed by John Phillips (New Zealand) - Prize $300
Best colorpacks/frames: Gaynor McCartney (New Zealand) - Prize $250

Details of awarded themes


Overall best theme: 'X_treme' made by Pedro Gilberto (Portugal) - Prize $500
This theme is called the 'youngest brother of PGtheme' with an unbelievable list of customization options. X_treme provides complete control of album and photo pages via easy to change and well documented theme options making it possible to change almost everything; the position, the color, the style and you can add your valuable extra information. The X_treme package even includes matching colorpacks, frames and iconpacks and to top it all of, it improves the slideshow a lot over the standard one. Best simple and uncluttered theme: 'Simplified' created by Chris Schwerdt (USA) - Prize $300
This theme focuses on the images and keeps things as uncluttered as possible. JavaScript is used to popup a dialog when the mouse hovers over a thumbnail to display metadata information. Demo

Best Ajax theme: 'Debaser' by Chris Smith (USA) - Prize $300
Presenting a "not so grid-like" grid photo presentation, optional special effects like image fade-in, and sliding sidebar as well as it's own colorpacks. Built-in options for header and footer content customization. Demo

Best embedded theme: 'NZDI' developed by John Phillips (New Zealand) - Prize $300
A clean and very elegant theme designed to be embedded in Drupal .
Comes with matching colorpacks and a neat preview display of thumbnails of photos. Demo

Best colorpacks/frames: Gaynor McCartney (New Zealand) - Prize $250
Dozens of colorpacks and frames come with an extensive documentation on how to adjust them to your own needs in this nice package. Demo

You can check out all submissions on the Gallery2 Theme Demo Site and they will become available for download via the 3rd party download page and in Downloadable Plugins (Gallery 2.2.) soon.

Congrats to everyone that entered. Even though I didn't win that's OK. By the looks of it I didn't deserve to. It looks like the project got some more solid themes which is good.

Now i check out those themes. Im glad i didnt rush it and make my own theme. I wouldn't have a chance to compete with these themes.

Wow I'm really impressed with the functinallity the 'X_treme' by Pedro Gilbertooffers offers.

I especially love the Floating side bar, displayed on mouse right click and by a link

So now I'm seriously thinking about joining the competition next year

Really nice theme's, the Ajax theme 'Debaser' is very nice in my opinion. However, the other's al also really nice in my opinion. Concratulations!

How can I add a module like the DEMO of each theme? It would allow each user to choose the theme they like. Great idea.
