what do you mean by git 1.6.2.3? is it latest git version of the gallery? I suspect not.
Gallery version should be G 3.0 git (pre-rc1), in particular gallery core module version should be at least 26.
If you are using any 3rd party modules, please disable them for this test.

Hi Serge,
4 columns works great. When I go into advanced options, checking and unchecking boxes and then saving doesn't do anything. For example, if I try to remove site credits they're still there. Same with all the other options. I'm using Gallery 3.0 RC1 on both Firefox 3.5.8 and IE8. My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080.

Hi Serge,
I'm sorry for being unclear with my first post. Yes I'm talking about the module http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:register with admin approval switched on. After a user is approved they receive a mail with a link to go to the gallery page. Following this link will log them on and display a dialog similar to the one displayed after the installation (displaying the automatically created password and giving the possibility to change the password).

Serge -- thank you for your hard work on this pioneering theme for G3. A couple of observations (using the "Grey Dragon" theme v. 1-8.1):
--- On the initial (login) page, I think you should move the "Login" link back to the top of the page in an appropriate spot. It is awkward to have to scroll down to find it -- and some people will not be experienced enough to realize that the "Login" link IS there (but not in view without scrolling).
--- The "options" available at the first large screen (individual photo enlarged) view are restricted to "Edit This Photo" and this in turn brings up your dialog that deals only with title, etc. as standard in G3 "Wind". No rotation, etc. Isn't this the likely place for editing rather than the "child album" view of the thumbs?
--- And to continue, in the "child album" view (thumbs) rotation is again missing. For a lot of people (including me), this is a requirement, especially after importing from G2.
--- You might consider using larger type for the various links -- a little hard to read for us older folks -- or anyone with less than youthful good vision.
I will continue to use your themes as the testing continues.

This is intentional at least for now. Rotation degrades the picture quality.
I think that integration with http://www.picnik.com/ for processing photos would be a better choice. For now if you are to bring it from G2, rotate it before import.

1.8.2 Dragon installed.
Yes, I understand not having the rotation option. Problem is -- a user even with all privileges cannot adjust an obvious thumbnail/pic position error without downloading the pic, taking it to a photoshop/viewer station, rotating, uploading it, etc. etc. But in terms of control I can see eliminating the option.
Note:
using latest Google CHROME --
new Login.
Shows your non-js dialog for name/PW.
Returns "Success" screen and stays right there unless a reverse is chosen.
Either CR or Submit button does this.
New CR alone does nothing.
Sorry I cannot see results of "larger font" ???? At least on login and main link choices.
