In the base gallery album theme definition. This is where it's added (it has to be for some reason)
I've got it! Thx

I got 2 problems
1: When i upgrade to 0.4.6 and above my map does not work anymore. It just says "Loading, please wait...", so i think my map-key works.
2: When i try to save my theme settings i get this error:

Can you give a link to your map so we can check on it
it seems there is a problem with your routes. It's possible you had routes before and because of the new way routes are represented (a better way, I swear) you would have to recreate them
let me know if that fixes your issue.
See you

The projection page states that testing is currently being done in an embeded environment. Has anyone documented (preferably on the projection page) what needs to be done to have the Google Map Module work in an embeded G2 installation?

May I ask what was wrong on my setup?
galmoid - about "Item 6" ... can you point me to it (no idea how to locate it - can you send me a link to it
Hmm, the only idem_id=6 I can locate is the root of my Gallery and should point to my location (the default center of my map at 8.0859375, 47.81315451752768) - is it this?

Termitenshort, as I understood, there was an issue with my map entry on the root-gallery.
I'm absolutely impressed on the job galmoid did - wow ... it looks like'm now operating back on 4.6d without issues !

LFranks problem:
After installing 0.4.6(up to d) attempts to access The Map resulted in
nothing more that a completely blank page. No errors, no nothing.
I went directly to ShowMap.inc and placed some strategic print
statements in ShowMap.inc. First, of course, at the top of the
file just to see that ShowMap.inc was actually executing. It was.
I then began to narrow where in ShowMap there might be a problem.
At one point in ShoMap's execution my print statements stopped
producing any output. Eventually I put a print statement in that
printed each item id number and found that one of them caused
execution to stop. This item # turned out to be, as LFrank pointed
out above, the root gallery album. LFrank removed the Google Map
information on this item and everything worked.
I don't know if Google Map information (coordinates, etc.) is
an acceptable thing on the gallery root album or not. If it is
not, I suspect some sort of detection needs to be implemented.
It was fun to figure it out.
LFrank, I have disconnected and you can return your system
(permission, accounts, etc.) back to your usual configuration.
Thank You for workinmg with me on this. Have a great night.

What I'm thinking about, is a 'return to default' button. If Default Zoom In Level (infowindow) is set to 2, you have to click several times on zoom out button to get back to default ex. zoom level 15.
I'm now using the Stock-Large with the 'slider' to ease zooming

More progress on the tracklog ....
After a lot of optimization and memory usage control I successfully managed to trace a limited version of THE Mother !!!
Number of Polylines: 393 - Number of Points: 118080 , yes you read it right ... almost 119K points. FF crashed (still) but IE gave me 1 message asking if I wanted to cancel the script running.
Of course I said NO and the script continued on running. Total running time 1 minute and 30 secondes !!!!
I think it is safe to say that I'm getting close

So this button would be on the map or in the info window? Or both?
Should this button/link take the user to just the default zoom at the same coordinates or the push pin coordinates?
Should I change the behavior of the middle button to "go to default zoom and location"?
Lots of ways to do this I just want the correct behavior.

yes I have. it permits to do a much faster tracing but think it's using a bit more memory (which seems to be the main driver for the fail attempts before that )
Also the Mother managed to crash topofusion several times . I still haven't figure ou how to reduce the amount of point using that tool, can you help me out with that ?

Too much for my pea brain; but, history with a back button so,
after drilling down and zooming in through grouped markers,
one could click the button and step back through the drilling
history. Maybe it is not even possible; but, one can always
dream.

When you have the track up in TopoFusion (I think it would be
in red?), using the 'hand' tool right click on the track. The
track should change color and a popup menu will appear. Select
Spline/Simplify Track and you'll get a dialog box allowing you
to enter the number of points to reduce to.
You're right, even TopoFusion is stressed by The Mother.

We have the "filter" location that we could go back to.
I can't think of a way to step back a few zoom levels other than perhaps the level and location that brought you to the zoom level you get to when you press a push pin/group marker.
I can make a link/button that would take you to the default zoom level that is set in the config...or add yet another config option for a 'zoom out to' level, as we have for the 'zoom to'.
Perhaps the behavior of the middle button is not what the user(s) expect? We can change that button to go to the default location as set in the admin page. I think that is what a user might expect.
I guess I am asking for a user story. With step by steps as to what would be done/expected.

Sweet thanks man. I'm gonna create Simplified version at 20k, 30k, 50k, etc ... and see where the limit is
There is a point I'm sure where it's usuable and pretty fast and very accurate
Stay tuned....

Found another buf and fixed it too:
- The Size of the MarkerSet selected for the Album wasn't correctly populated (it was using the same as the Markers).
These 2 bugs plus the absence of EDIT MAP KEY button, plus Edit removing the items (routes, filters, mapkeys) will be fixed and posted tonight. Right after I will post the new .po files for translation
See you later

This may sounds like an inane question, but i installed the Google Map module and everything seems fine. But when I set up an album, the marker appears on the Google Map...but there is no balloon and no apparent navigation to the particular album from the map. What am I doing wrong?

Actually it only uses 6 decimals . I was thinking of reducint that to optimize the file from within PHP but it would be too big of an approximation ...

Fixes for the latest bugs found ans also integrated the changes from floridave.
Floridave, I have made a couple changes to the code as I found some thing weren't working in here. Nothing major but it's always better to get them solved
Enjoy !

Upgraded from 0.4.6d to 0.4.7 -- Lookin good .
Using the map control type "Full_Orange" looks great in FF and IE6 but... my sidebar for Album & Photo Legend is messed up. Don't know why. Switching to Stock Large and all is fine.

If you view the source does the down arrows for the dropdown have a height and width tag?
if not then:
in Legend.tpl look for src="{$map.gallerybase}modules/map/images/down.png"/>
and change to src="{$map.gallerybase}modules/map/images/down.png" height="16" width="15"/>
there will be 2 places.
Dave
EDIT: you will have to add the height and width to the "group" icon as well.

I havent seen The Mother data but does it use the default 14 decimal points for long/lat that the map uses?

This may sounds like an inane question, but i installed the Google Map module and everything seems fine. But when I set up an album, the marker appears on the Google Map...but there is no balloon and no apparent navigation to the particular album from the map. What am I doing wrong?

Actually it only uses 6 decimals . I was thinking of reducint that to optimize the file from within PHP but it would be too big of an approximation ...

that sounds weird ... ddo you have any error in the javascript console ? Which template for the infowindow are you using ?
Can we have a link to the map maybe to troubleshoot ?

Here is Version 0.4.7:
Fixes for the latest bugs found ans also integrated the changes from floridave.
Floridave, I have made a couple changes to the code as I found some thing weren't working in here. Nothing major but it's always better to get them solved
Enjoy !
EDIT: version is 0.4.7 because there is feature added

Termite,
I get a Page not found when trying to download 0.4.6e.zip.
Anyone else?
EDIT: Never mind. Guess I was trying to download at same time you were uploading 0.4.7.

Thanks I knew it was wrong and I let the better man fix it!
Onto my next project.....Weather in the info window. I have data from http://xoap.weather.com/ in a XML format ( I am now learning XML )
It looks like this http://langleycom.com/weather/index.php?display=cd&inst=1 and comes from this data:
http://langleycom.com/weather/wxCache/81007cc.xml
but it requires a town name. Is there some 'reverce' geocoding code about? I want to pass a lat, long and get a city/town or airport. Unless sombody knows how to pass lat/long to weather.com?

Upgraded from 0.4.6d to 0.4.7 -- Lookin good .
Using the map control type "Full_Orange" looks great in FF and IE6 but... my sidebar for Album & Photo Legend is messed up. Don't know why. Switching to Stock Large and all is fine.
See attached screenshot.

If you view the source does the down arrows for the dropdown have a height and width tag?
if not then:
in Legend.tpl look for
src="{$map.gallerybase}modules/map/images/down.png"/>
and change to
src="{$map.gallerybase}modules/map/images/down.png" height="16" width="15"/>
there will be 2 places.
Dave
EDIT: you will have to add the height and width to the "group" icon as well.

Floridave,
Looking forward to your next project. Just a suggestion but have you checked out other weather sites?
Here's a few:
http://netweather.accuweather.com/adcbin/netweather/netweather_index.asp?
http://labs.weatherbug.com/labs/
http://www.weather.gov/xml/ - may not be what you're looking for but appears to use Lat/Long.
