Hmmm, could you be a little more specific? I just tried changing the permissions of my g2data folder to 777 but that didn't change anything. I also just tried a complete reinstallation of the latest SVN version as well as the theme, but things look the same. I wanted to eliminate the trouble I had with upgrading that I mentioned in my last post as a cause.

When I unzip PGLightbox into the Themes directory, all of the directories wind up with permissions set to 700, and they need to be at least 644, and all of the files get a 600. They, too, need to be something like 644. That means I have to do a global chmod - for everyhing in the PGLightbox directory.(I don't understand the permission settings as well as I'd like to, so I'm showing you what works for me, which may not me optimal.)

It appears that

-for the imageblocks it is no longer possible to define if they are "random image", "latest image" or "latest album".

-the logo at the top left can't be removed by unclicking "OVERALL :: Show your LOGO on top left page [?]"

-a "save/load theme preferences" function would be nice should i ever want to have the same look for several galleries, if it isn't to much work.

-it would be just brilliant if the static sidebar could be moved inside the box with this tag (for embedding the theme into a site with a fixed width and not to much space):

Quote:
<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="gcBorder1">

Could this be looked into please?

Thank you almost - this solved my problems. Everything is looking pretty nice, now. And, thank you to LFrank and P. Gilberto for posting this theme!

Re: Slideshow applet

I've done everything I can think of to invoke the slideshow applet on a local installation but to no avail. The TripTracker control panel loads but the images do not. When I click through the slideshow you can see that requests for the images are being made. Is there anything special I need to configure to make this work? Thanks in advance.

@atelier: have you defined resizes in the album setup as described in the wiki page? It needs a resize at about 800px (set in theme.inc)

It was set at 800px. I tried changing to 640px for grins but same result.

I just downloaded PGLightbox to try it. I got the following:

Incompatible theme!
Core API Required: 7.0 (available: 7.3)
Theme API Required: 2.4 (available: 2.3)

What should I be doing to fix??

Thanks...John

This theme is only compatible with 2.2 version. The first release candidate is now available.

I am still unable to invoke the applet slideshow. I found two sections in theme.inc that are referenced in the wiki and changed both to 800px but this did nothing. Everything else in this theme is working for me such as individual lightbox views and the control panel for the slideshow.

I have carefully read the forum thread and reviewed the wiki but I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this. Are there any other configuration parameters I need to consider? I have this running on a brand new install of 2.2-rc1. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@kunghe: it's dependant on one of the album plugins I've found ...

You can set the album items to link to photopage directly not via Lightbox in the theme settings. Sidebar handling should be exactly the same as in PGtheme.

hey everyone!

site: http://gallery.romeomike.net
problem: I'm not sure this is working right. Not getting the "popup" effect that the codex says I should be seeing instantly. Also, I think the codex might need to be tweaked slightly because I did not find two instances of <a href="{g->url arg1="view=core.ShowItem" arg2="itemId=`$child.id`"}"> in my album.tpl (getting this from here: http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Modules:Lightbox).

Hey, Lutz,

Thanks a million for this theme. This is my first time using Gallery and I'm only using it b/c I saw that you had put out this theme, which is fantastic. I don't know much about programming, etc., and I've been having this problem that I noticed nobody else is having, which means I'm probably doing something stupid!

I hate to post stupid questions on forums and waste peoples time, but I can't seem to find the solution elsewhere (probably b/c its so obvious!).

1. I can't seem to be able to replace your welcome message with my own!

In the theme settings under ALBUM you have a place where you can designate a new tpl file which is indicated to be located at PGlightbox/templates/extra/info. When I do that, and even if I delete default.tpl, it is still showing your default welcome message.

Also, after changing the 1st and 2nd link tpls, and getting an error which said it couldn't find the tpl files in the "templates/" I thought maybe I had the directory wrong. Sure enough when i moved my new 1st/2nd link tpls to ../../local they loaded up and the error disappeared, but still only your default message!

2. I see the files I can edit to change the Portfolio and Equipment content, but where can I actually the title of these links?

Again, I'm really sorry, I'm sure i'm missing something simple, and you all are shaking your heads in frustration! :-P

Thanks again for the theme, its fantastic.

-P

Lutz....

I have not tried PGLightbox yet. I am newly back to trying G2 (didn't like the original look/feel vs. what I had customized into G1) and fell across 'greypop' first. However, I though you might be able to answer my question.

The problem I have is when using 'lightbox' with either the greymatter or PGcharcoal colorpacks. When I use them the EXIF data is printed with black text on a dark-ish grey backgroud. This makes it very hard to see the text. Can you point me to where/how I can change the background?

Thanks....JOHN

I have a second question on PGlightbox but will post separately next.

Lutz....

With PGlightbox, is it possible to set lightbox to use the "full size". i.e. the "original" image?

The reason I would want this is that my "original image" has been already resized to a maxedge of 1500 pixels. I do final sharpening for the screen at that point. I have found that this works better with the java "variable" resizing and results in less pizelization and aliasing. Since the 1500x? images have a 200kb to 400kb image size, the bandwith load is not a factor (with any broadband...dialup being a different case, but that gets less and less every year).

Thanks....JOHN

@jrsforums: there is a blank.gif int he lightbox images which is responsible for the color of the backdrop. You can change the size of the in the resizeId2 in theme.inc

Do you mean here?

     if ( $resizedIds ){
            /* Find the best resized option
             *
             * Use width/height max=; */
            $lboxMaxEdge = 810;
            $resizedEdge = NULL;
            $resizedId = NULL;

Hi Lutz,

I wondered if you had any other ideas about how I might fix the slideshow problem. Are there specific parameters I need to set up in the slideshow applet module configuration? Are there installation instructions specific to the slideshow that I may have overlooked? Is there something in my server environment that would prevent this from working?

Sorry to pester you about this but I would really like to include this functionality. I sent you a PM a couple days ago regarding a user account and album you can use to look at things. Thank you very much for your help.

@maver1ck: don't know exactly what you mean - I wouldn't have it added to the PGlightbox set at the moment - feel free to add it to another clone.
Open an account on the contrib page an here you go, for the (svn) repository you might talk to the development team.

I mean I want to add some new features to PGlightbox without making new clone (this features are fully configurable)
And I want to commit some bug fixes. And I don't see PGlightbox in Gallery official repository.

Hi Lutz,

I now have PGLightbox, and was delighted on the first page to see the button at the top to
Instructions for "How to Configure PGLightbox Theme"
It is my only real complaint about the PG theme that configuring it is so confusing until you get used to it.

So then I was very disappointed to see that the page is empty.

SO .... I have 2 questions:-

Have you got people working on the instructions?
Do you want volunteers?

Gaynor.

Hi, Like to say good work, but also to see if you can help me out.

I would like to add the description and or summary info for a photo to the lightbox popup.
Is this possible? i have located the area in your code in album.tpl where the "view photo page" url is generated
"title='{$child.title|markup}<br><a href="{g->url params=$theme.pageUrl arg1="itemId=`$child.id`"}">View Photo Page</a>'"
but i cannot get additional info to appear i ask as i am not a programmer and have spent considerable time trying to get it work, it occured to me that i may be wasting my time as it maybe its just not possible.

it is a shame that the search function on this site is turned off as i am sure many questions and answers are getting repeated.

anyways cheers

EDIT

Hooray persistance pays i managed to get th description field to work on the lightbox page by changing the line in album.tpl

"title='{$child.title|markup}<br><a href="{g->url params=$theme.pageUrl arg1="itemId=`$child.id`"}">View Photo Page</a>'"

to

title='{$child.title|markup}<br><br> {$child.description|markup}<br><br><a href="{g->url params=$theme.pageUrl arg1="itemId=`$child.id`"}">View Photo Page</a>'

so no worries just thanx for a great gallery theme

Hello, I'm reading this thread with great interest since I've just started using this elegant and efficient theme.
I'm facing a big problem though: I can't make exif metadata visible anywhere in the photo page, neither as a popup nor beside or below each photo
Is there anybody willing to give some advice - I'm really a beginner
Thank you very much

HI GMax
>I can't make exif metadata visible anywhere in the photo page,<

As this theme is an adaptation of the PG theme, I assume it works the same way.

Go into "Site Admin / Themes".
Choose PGlightbox from your themes tabs, and scroll down just a little.

You'll find the EXIF settings in the "Blocks" for sidebar, Album, and Photo.

See the "Available" with a drop down menu beside it.
EXIF is inside each of those.

(Well that is where they are in PG theme. I haven;t worked in PGLightbox yet)

Thank you Gaynor for your reply,
I've checked all the settings both at "Site admin" and "root album" levels; boxes have been all checked, but it doesn't work at all! I'm getting desperate :( ... Lutz has told me that "The Exif as text the right of the photo isn't forseen (yet) ... its either below or in the popup" ... in my case it isn't anywhere, below or popup would do as well, but nothing!
What should I do?
Thank you all,

Max

PS I'm experiencing other weird application of settings: for example, even though I set at 3 both columns and rows in both "Site admin" and "root album", in both default theme (Matrix) and PGlightbox theme, in the main gallery page (1st page) I'm presented with four rows ... ?!?!?

I just tried to install PGLightbox and the first problem was that it did not appear in the plug-ins list.

Using G2 2.2 RC1 and PGLightbox 1.2.0

After reading a bit I started changing files and folder permissions. This should really not be necessary. I installed it by uploading the zip file and unzipping on the server via cPanel. This keeps permissions, but this file might not have been created on Linux? Could it have been zipped on a Win pc?

Well, got it listed in plug-ins after a lot of work. I do not have shell access, so I used my ftp client to change permissions....

Changed to the theme in the root gallery. I know. Stupid thing to do... Got a blank page and nothing works anymore. Tried deleting the theme manually, got into a text only interface of G2. I can get to all menu items in site admin except for the themes item. Tried the maintenance options, no luck.

Where is the theme setting stored? I need to know so I can reset back to Matrix theme. I already checked config.php, but nothing there. In this case, there should be an easy way to reset the theme. Getting a little annoyed with this....

UPDATE: Finally found what to search for. The solution was here:
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:FAQ#I_get_a_warning_for_missing_themes_.2F_modules_in_the_upgrader.2C_what_should_I_do.3F

Too bad. Seemed like a nice theme. Might try it later at some point.

Hi GMax,
As you say " in both default theme (Matrix) and PGlightbox theme, " it is not a problem specific to this theme.

Perhaps someone can help you if you take it to the Troubleshooting forum.

I'd like to help you but there are others whose help would be more reliable in that area.

Hi
I have a couple questions on this theme. I think its definitely the best I have seen so far.

Firstly FF works perfect, but in IE on the photo page the lightbox has the continual spinner issue similar the issue in albums.tpl. I think its because of this the next and prev mouse over icons work during page loading but stop once loaded. Would the fix that was applied to albums.tpl fix this issue, im guessing in the file photo.tpl. http://gallery.menalto.com/node/54063?page=4#comment-210975 brought up the issue and since then the album page fix has been included in the pagkage and works great but the photo page still doesnt seem to work

Next how easy is it to make the option "OnMouseOver photo Navigation - show full size photo POPUP navigation pic" use the Lightbox popup which is generally as a icon beside the exif and more options buttons rather than popup a new window. I am having a walk through the code but through if someone could point me to the right spot it would be easier.

**EDIT** I managed to get this to work with a code mod in photoNavOver.tpl and changing the code

 <dd id="picfullT">
{literal}<script type="text/JavaScript">
//<![CDATA[
<!--
img = {/literal}"<a id=\"fullT\" href=\"javascript:void(0)\" onclick=\"fsizeopen('{g->url arg1="view=core.DownloadItem" arg2="itemId=`$theme.sourceImage.id`"}'); return false;\" title=\"{if $theme.params.FsizePopupText}{g->text text=$theme.params.FsizePopupText}{else}{g->text text='Full Image Popup'}{/if}\"><span style=\"top:20px; text-align:center\">{if ($theme.params.NavOverLink == 'thumb') || ($theme.params.NavOverLink == 'both') || ($theme.params.NavOverLink == 'text')}<p\/>FULL SIZE{/if}{if $theme.params.NavOverLink == 'pic'}<img src=\"{g->theme url='images/fullphotoover.gif'}\" alt=\"full size\"\/>{/if}</span><\/a>"{literal};
function ViewPopup(){document.write(img);}
ViewPopup();
//-->
//]]>
</script>{/literal}
 </dd>

to

 <dd id="picfullT">
<a rel="lightbox" id="fullT"
        href="{g->url forceFullUrl=true arg1="view=core.DownloadItem" arg2="itemId=`$theme.imageViews[1].id`"}"
        title="{if $theme.params.LightboxText}{g->text text=$theme.params.LightboxText}{else}{g->text text='Lightbox PopUp'}{/if}"
        class="{if $theme.params.icons != 'no'}icon{else}noicon{/if} iconFullPopup"><span style="top:20px; text-align:center">{if ($theme.params.NavOverLink == 'thumb') || ($theme.params.NavOverLink == 'both') || ($theme.params.NavOverLink == 'text')}<p/>FULL SIZE{/if}{if $theme.params.NavOverLink == 'pic'}<img src="{g->theme url='images/fullphotoover.gif'}" alt="full size"/>{/if}</span>
</a>

 </dd>

**EDIT END**

Finally navigation through the photos when on the photo page. Is it planned to be ajax driven at any point. I would like to be able to click next image and only have the image reload rather than the whole page or is there a guide anywhere about to implement this?.

Thanks

First off I'd like to congratulate LFrank and everyone else whose helped make this such a great theme for Gallery. This was my third
try using Gallery for my family photo website and as soon as I installed it I knew it was a keeper. I do have one issue
though and one customization question. Neither is a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have consistent navigation throughout the site:

Issue: the lightbox popup works great in firefox, but not in IE (6 or 7) in the photo item view. The popup work fine in either browser
in album view, but for some reason IE generates the following error - Line: 442 Char: 4 Error: Object doesn't support this method or property.

Question: how can I remove the "Equipment", "Portfolio" and "Author" templates from the theme? I'd rather use the space for images, and my bio
is pretty boring anyways :)

Thanks again for all the hard work, I'd be happy to post screen shots or install a debugger and post output from it if it will help resolve the issue...

Regards,

Carl Waldron

Hi Carl

>Question: how can I remove the "Equipment", "Portfolio" and "Author" templates from the theme? <

That sounds like the EXIF information.
Look in the EditAlbum
Check in the 2nd tab that you are dealing with the correct theme, then click the (3rd tab = "theme")

See the Blocks in sidebar etc in the top section of the page and also scroll down to the relevant places.
ie Blocks, Actions etc.

Thanks Gaynor, but the .tpl files I am referring to are not part of the image EXIF
data. They allow a photographer to customize their site with a bio, the equipment they
shoot with and any external portfolio link they'd like to show off. Since I
still consider myself an amateur I don't need any of this functionality...but if I simply
remove the three TPL files the website throws an error and won't load.

Hi I am very new to Gallery and PGlightbox.

I installed my Gallery 2.2 (gallery-2.2-rc-1-full.zip) successfully. I downloaded PGlightbox-1.2.0.zip and PGlightbox-modules.zip and extracted PGlightbox-1.2.0.zip content to install\ and PGlightbox-modules.zip content to modules\. Then I re-run install\index.php.

Afterwards, I browsed through all of my gallery settings and nowhere shows PGlightbox, even a way to activate that....

In fact, I had hard time loacating PGlightbox-1.2.0 and PGlightbox-modules installation and configuration in this web site....

Please help me out and I thank you in advance!

I had the same problem and was told this problem will continue till Lutz gets the theme into codex's User Contributed listing.

However, adding the theme by ftp, and waiting for my slow computer to catch up, the theme did appear in the settings to be activated and then in Site Admin/ themes/ all themes to be used.

You need to go to PlugIns, Scroll down and active PGLight Box first then come to themes, you will see it there

I am not sure if this is a theme or a G2 issue...

on my main page, the keywords that I have entered for my albums is displaying beneath the album thumbnail. I would really prefer it didn't! Is there any way to suppress this behaviour?

@Jas0r: If you read back through the previous pages of this topic you will see where others (me amongst them) have had the same perpetual spinner problem. I resolved mine by uploading a (clean) reinstall of a recent G2.2 SVN, reinstalling everything. That might help you too

Hi

Hmm I think its my version of IE then, I am running IE7. I have tried the demo site and for example
http://localmail.dynip.com/GALLERY2/v/Concerts/Chapman/_Chapman-7.JPG.html works fine in FF but in IE the lightbox has a continuous spinner. I also found your site linked off the If-photodesign page and it does the same thing. Are you using IE 6 or 7?
My gallery can be found here if you want to try it.
