Mambo / Joomla! + G2

Hi,
you path seems to be incorrect
"/home/_/public_html/" do you have a directorie solely named "_"

this problem isn't the component, did you install other components experienced the same problem? could you give somemore info, how is the zip file named you try to install?

I am installing it throught the control panel. I get it after the com_gallery 2 folder is added and after the database changes have been made. It then fails with that error and does not install.

I noticed someone else had it too. From this thread.

The _ in the path I put was just what I substituted for my user name in the path. I have not had problems with any other components. The zip file is mambo.zip. I downloaded it straight from the link on the first post of this thread.

On another note, the component file that was in the original Mambo + G2 thread installs without error.

okay i have rewritten back-end and added some features:

userlist page

user_edit

tools page

also made a front end adjustment, mambelfish support!

My question to the community, what would you like to see on the userlist and user_edit page and other good idea's are also welcome?

and I already thought i shouldn't do anything with those groups, i'll make sure they can't delete users from there if I'll include this feature.
further i posted because i want some feat back on this, if i should make it available or not and what people want.

I installed the 1.1 of the album tree and have problems.

The permission to all my albums are set for registered users only in the G2 admin panel. Therefore, if I install this module and leave the Mambo Module access to "Public", I get this error in the spot where this module should display (embedded):

If I set the Mambo Module access to "Registered", I can log in and see the complete list all the albums (like before) but once I click on an album to view it, I get this Gallery error covering the whole page un-embedded:

KAC, i'd see this rather as a g2 functionality, as a module. of course you could then display the same data in a mambo page, but
- (user) statistics
- last online
- what albums they looked at (that's something that would need to be aggregated by a stats module)
are things that would be interesting not only for mambo, but for G2 standalone too.

I have the same problem as KAC with the album tree 1.1 module.

im gettint the error: File /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/mambo/media/install_42aef8d9c1c1b/gallery2.php does not exist!

when trying to install from the component page in mambo admin.
i used the mambo.zip as installation file and also tried with a zipped com_gallery2.

my mambo is installed in /mambo and my gallery is in /gallery2

any ideas on how to fix this problem ?

d3vlabs: in an earlier post you adviced someone to zip the right dir, which dir should this be ?

also whats the status on the integrated search for mambo and gallery2 ?

JupiterZen, in what way is it confusing? please tell us how to improve / reorganize it. i'm not using mambo, just managing what goes into cvs etc.

JupiterZen, so you'd recommend moving com_gallery2/gallery2/* to com_gallery2/. ? i.e. just get rid of the gallery2 folder in between?

no offence, that sounds good to me. but i'd like to hear the opinion of at least of the devs that worked on the mambo integration code before we change this. hope one of them reads the forums.
deleting directories in the cvs requires the help of an sourceforge.net admin...

I'm running 4.5.2 and if I remove the "gallery2" folder from inside the com_gallery2, it will not install using the component installer in Mambo.

i guess you're configuration paths are incorrect.

i won't argue about the paths. either you are running php on windows and then you need paths with backslash or not.

@pictures:
got a link for us such that we can see what you mean?
are all pictures not shown or can you see the originals?

@performance:
G2 is far more powerful than G1, that's why it is slower than G1 for small installs.
once you add 10'000-20'000 files to G1, you'll see that G2 scales much better. G2 can handle huge galleries.
see the G2 faq for more details (php accelerators etc).

I delete the folder and move the files that were in that folder up one level. This leaves me with just the zip fle containing the files and no folders.

It will not install this way using the component install.

Okay I figured out the 'why' for the second question. The links created by the sidebar go like this: (for Add Comment)

the g2_return seems to be unnecessary and messing up my edit functions, when I clear that from the URLs it works great. Could someone steer me in the right direction to get rid of that in the URLs?

I have changed it to show on ALL pages for now just to get by, but the links still do not work because of the g2_return markup in the URLs. Like in my previous post. No matter if the sidebar module showed or not, the links never work unless I remove the end of the URL that begins with &g2_return

Thanks for posting this fix. I have a nOOb question.

How do I edit the url link?

I have the "Picture Gallery" link in the top menu. I click it in Mambo Admin Menu Manager and it will not let me edit the URL. The component link comes up as " index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=47" but I can't change it.

I did go to the G2 component settings and changed the embedurl to: "index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=?your Itemid?" but that didn't help. I still only get the sidebar to show when clicking on the top menu link.

Okay i just wanted to give you all a report what is happing on the component. Version 2 of the component is nearly complete, because of the drastic changes that where made, all modules have to be updated also.
Here some of the changes

• All the url are being checked if they are correct and you have to fill in less. So less problems there.
• Itemid bug fixed, you don't have to fill this in anymore!
• Better quest and user handeling.
• Basket remains for the session also if you go to other pages.
• back-end sync tools for: user and groups(with different options)
• back-end user list, displays if they exist in G2.
• back-end user-details, shows:number of albums, number of photo's, Groups user belongs, Album details(name, id, parent id, creation date, last mod date, viewed, since_viewed_date, keywords, summary, description)

The modules will be updated and there will be some new ones. Like a module with latest comments, latest x photo's text-based with link, most x viewed photo's text-based with link, nice stats module(number of albums/foto/movies, total views, total size,total comments, etz)
