Thank you michiel_1981. I figured that out and it installed as a component, but I left a message in the thread on your system that like a few others, it didn't populate the Sql data base....
No prob. I can see this is a great integration and will await your tweak as you indicated on your site.
Tx for your response. Very much appreciated.

use the component installer not module installer!
unzip maintaining folder structure and upload to tmp directory and piont the component installer there! Last time i did that was 6 months ago so i might be wrong.

daveS_84,
you haven't installed the image block module in gallery2 or you have to activate it!

Quick question,
I have G2 intergrated with Mambo via the Component.
My problem is the albums created when clicking on the albums gives you a page cannot be displayed.
1) where is this v comming from? I dont have such a directory.
2) why is it putting in mambo, when the gallery is not under the mambo folder but on the same level?!?
./
../
mambo/
gallery2/
gallery2/g2data
3) what is that g2data/ and why should I put it under /home/me/g2data, instead of /home/me/www/gallery2/g2data ????

thanks !
Now it works.
1 more question, when accessing gallery2 via the Mambo component, i click on Site Admin, although, there is no link to add albums... When I click on Gallery (top left corner, i go to the gallery itself.
But if I access Gallery2 via standalone, login to Site Admin, and press gallery (top left corner, it brings up a left side bar to add albums....?!?
Is this normal that you can only add albums via the standalone Gallery2 and not via the Gallery component?

even when I go to edit a user, the email address is the user's full name, and I dont see the password....?

never mind, found out that I had installed phpBB intergration then deleted it, although it did not put the mos_user db back to it's original state, so that was the reason....

I use the g2 sidebar module on all my gallery2 pages. Or you can change the option in the gallery2 component to include the sidebar.

DAMN !
Now I just found another problem.....
When trying to sync the users of mambo to Gallery2, it works and says it was successful. But when I go, via the component, to user management, I only see this: (See attachement)
What could be creating this issue?

there's something im doing wrong, I tried installing it "upgrade" the 2.0.6 and got :
Upload component - Failed
Another component is already using directory: "/home/ottmoto/public_html/mambo/components/com_gallery2/"
[ Continue ... ]
Tried uninstalling it and removing the com_gallery2 table, without success either.
Can you explain how to update?

Here is what I did,
un-install the component, delete the gallery2 database and delete the gallery2 folder.
downloaded the sept9 load of gallery2, installed, works fine standalone.
downloaded component 2.0.7
tried to install component via Mambo Component install and I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/ottmoto/public_html/mambo/administrator/components/com_gallery2/install.gallery2.php on line 96

npereira,
redownload again the component because there was a typo in one function might be the same line as i'm not at home and can't check.
You didn't need to delete the database or files/folders,

un-installed the 2.0.6, and re-downloaded the 2.0.7 and installed:
update failed! Following Queries couldn't be executed:
Install complete, There are some things you should do next.
1) You should go to config screen of this component and configure it to your needs.
2) You should make 1 link on your menu manager to this component so it has at least 1 Itemid assigned to it.
3) You should update your gallery2 to at least 2.0-rc2 or core 0.9.37

Let me know when it's fixed.

I agree, I had issues as well. They also took off the old modules on mamboforge.net. Luckly I had a backup of my website where I could get the old modules.

Okay, the severe issue should be fixed now and is uploaded to mamboforge.net
sorry for this issue only people with a clean install where effected by this issue.
As it is very late, i'll continue on tomorrow if any other issues come fort.
shocksll, i'll put the modules back for download on dev.4theweb.nl if people need them as mamboforge doesn't let me move files

Ok, I got 2.08 installed and upgraded to unpossible and everything works great!
Except...
I'm still getting javascript errors when I have the search block added to the sidebar. Is this a gallery2 problem, mambo problem, or com_gallery2/mod_gallery2_sidebar problem? I want to say it started with an upgrade of gallery2 but I don't remember. Anyway, I ended up adding this code inside a javascript block in my templates html at the bottom of the head.
function HandleErrors(){
return true;
}
window.onerror = HandleErrors;
This of course won't allow any JS errors to show on any of my pages (which can be good and bad). Any ideas of really solving the problem? Thanks.

I'm unable to get the "Full Path to Gallery G2:" to stay in the Components/Config section. I'm entering the path as "/home/zed28/public_html/tomkinson/gallery2" with tomkinson being the root of this particular website. When I save the settings (after entering the above in the "Full Path to Gallery G2:" area, it says it saves successfully but comes back empty.
I then get the following error message when I try to open the embeded Gallery2 application...
Warning: embed(embed.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/zed28/public_html/tomkinson/components/com_gallery2/classes/core.php on line 126
Fatal error: embed(): Failed opening required 'embed.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/zed28/public_html/tomkinson/components/com_gallery2/classes/core.php on line 126
Any ideas? Gallery2 works fine in stand-a-lone mode...
Thanks in advance!

When I upgraded to 2.08 for some reason it had in the database my old gallery2 database and was trying to use that to access some mambo tables, I edited the mos_gallery2 table and the database entry inside of it to the correct one and that fixed all of my problems. I was have the same issue as azhiwen and it was saying it couldn't find gallery2.mos_modules or whatever instead of my mambo database. Azhiwen, try looking in the mambo db and see if that database setting is correct.

I have an odd problem with G2 and Mambo...
I've given registered users the ability to "add sub-items" in an album. They can't. When they try, there's no error, but it just takes them back to the album page they were on when they clicked the link.
It works just fine from Gallery when not going through Mambo. Any ideas on this one?

i've downloaded the latest test build and it works fine for my config page. however i get the following errors instead:
user management: (after click on administrator under NAME)
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_gallery2/pages/user.manager.php on line 109
where line 109 refers to: list($ret, $groupids) =
GalleryCoreApi::fetchGroupsForUser($g2_user->getId());
and
Album management:
Input Array does not match ?: SELECT DISTINCT g2_AccessMap.g_accessListId FROM g2_AccessMap WHERE (g2_AccessMap.g_userId = NULL OR g2_AccessMap.g_groupId IN (1)) AND g2_AccessMap.g_permission & 1 =
as it is, i am wondering if it could be a result of the following information that i entered that's wrong??
1. Full Path to Gallery G2
2. Relative path to Gallery G2
3. Path to Mambo
any way to check for the correct paths?
thanks.

Hi,
I'm looking to automatically create User Albums when a new user registers with my mambo site. Currently I am using Gallery 1.5.x with Mambo 4.5.2.3. I know the com_gallery2 component that Integrates Gallery2 and mambo has this functionality but due to php memory limit restrictions at my hosting providers site I can't use Gallery2 Integrated with Mambo (That's another issue all together). So since that's really the only functionality I'm looking I was going to try and implement it myself.
/**************************************************
Self-registration auto-album creation hack
**************************************************/
// the *name* of the albums used as root users album.
// Use empty quotes for top-level
$usersGallery = "users_galleries";
// create the album with name and title == "username", desc == "username's Gallery"
createNewAlbum( $usersGallery, $uname, $uname, $uname . "'s Gallery");
// create object from $user
$newUser = $gallery->userDB->getUserByUsername($uname);
// change creation perms. Get rid of 'loggedin', then set to username
$gallery->album->setCreateSubAlbum("loggedin", 0);
$gallery->album->setCreateSubAlbum($newUser->getUid(), 1);
// set owner to username
$gallery->album->setOwner($newUser->getUid());
// save all changes
$gallery->album->save();
/**************************************************
End hack
**************************************************/
This hack was written for Gallery user registration process and I need it to work with the mambo user registration process.
I'd do it myself but I don't know where the code needs to go in the com_gallery component or in mambo for that matter.
Anyone have any ideas?

The Gallery is finally fixed!! After days of teeth-gnashing and hair-pulling, I have the bloody thing working!
The problem, if anyone's interested was in the Forum software I integrated into Mambo, NOT the Gallery integration. For the benefit of others who may experience the same problem, here's what I found:
The forum is a stand-alone program called SMF (Simple Machine Forum). There's a program called a "bridge" that allows it to integrate with Mambo (share users, logins, etc.). The bridge was causing the problem. Seems that there are two different bridge projects and the one I chose doesn't play well with Gallery2. I uninstalled it and downloaded the other one and it works just fine.
For the record, the one that causes problems is available from MamboHacks.com. The one that works properly is available from MamboForge.net.
michiel_1981:
I'm having the exact same problem as ZED28 on mine...using the latest Gallery 2.0 stable, Joomla 1.01, and 2.09 of the Joomla/Gallery bridge software. Any idea what's up? I'm running Apache 2.0.54, Php 5.05, Zend, Windows XP SP2 machine.

Hi
I just installed the latest Mambo and want to integrate gallery into it but I get this error and I can't do the configuration.
When I fill in the needed data and click on save the page refreshes and all the data is lost.

I seem to be getting the same error as others when I try to config the component:
Warning: embed(embed.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/server/public_html/mambo/components/com_gallery2/classes/core.php on line 127
Fatal error: embed(): Failed opening required 'embed.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/server/public_html/mambo/components/com_gallery2/classes/core.php on line 127
I am using the latest 2.0.9 version of the component. Mambo and Gallery 2 are installed at the same level.
Here are the settings I am using:
Full path to G2: /home/server/public_html/g2/
Relative path to G2: ../g2
Path to Mambo: /
I have also tried every other combination of path settings I can come up with and I always get the same result. Gallery 2 works fine as standalone.

Hi! The following error has occured, when I've installed Gallery2 Block module. I'm using Mambo 4.5.2.3 and com_gallery2_2.0.6 component.

daveS_84,
you haven't installed the image block module in gallery2 or you have to activate it!

Quick question,
I have G2 intergrated with Mambo via the Component.
My problem is the albums created when clicking on the albums gives you a page cannot be displayed.
I see that the URL is not even the correct one, it suppose to be www.test.com/gallery2/v/album1 and it's going to www.test.com/mambo/v/album1
1) where is this v comming from? I dont have such a directory.
2) why is it putting in mambo, when the gallery is not under the mambo folder but on the same level?!?
./
../
mambo/
gallery2/
gallery2/g2data
3) what is that g2data/ and why should I put it under /home/me/g2data, instead of /home/me/www/gallery2/g2data ????

you need to turn off the short urls module in gallery2

Oups !
I think there's something wrong..... When I sync'ed the users and groups from the Gallery2 Component, when I go to the Gallery2 users, I dont see there usernames... i see this:

How come im not seing the usernames?

even when I go to edit a user, the email address is the user's full name, and I dont see the password....?

never mind, found out that I had installed phpBB intergration then deleted it, although it did not put the mos_user db back to it's original state, so that was the reason....

What could be creating this issue?

is there an upgrade path, or do you have to delete the componen then re-add this new one?

Deleted the old comp 2.0.6, and installed this 2.0.7... got error:
update failed! Following Queries couldn't be executed:

#__gallery2 ?????
The g2 table shows as being mos_gallery2 not mos__gallery2.....
NOTE the 2 "_" instead of 1 "_"
Posts: 114
there's something im doing wrong, I tried installing it "upgrade" the 2.0.6 and got :
Upload component - Failed
Another component is already using directory: "/home/ottmoto/public_html/mambo/components/com_gallery2/"
[ Continue ... ]
Tried uninstalling it and removing the com_gallery2 table, without success either.
Can you explain how to update?
Posts: 430
npereira,
you have to uninstall first and then install the new component.

Michiel

Here is what I did,
un-install the component, delete the gallery2 database and delete the gallery2 folder.
downloaded the sept9 load of gallery2, installed, works fine standalone.
downloaded component 2.0.7
tried to install component via Mambo Component install and I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/ottmoto/public_html/mambo/administrator/components/com_gallery2/install.gallery2.php on line 96
Posts: 430
npereira,
redownload again the component because there was a typo in one function might be the same line as i'm not at home and can't check.

I had to take 2.0.7 off and put 2.0.6 back on as there is a severe problem with that file ....
Let me know when it's fixed.
Posts: 352
I agree, I had issues as well. They also took off the old modules on mamboforge.net. Luckly I had a backup of my website where I could get the old modules.
Posts: 430

Azhiwen, try looking in the mambo db and see if that database setting is correct.

sorry but how did you do that? newbie here. did you mean edit the gallery2 config in mambo?
thanks.

I use phpmyadmin to manage my mysql DB's. So using that I was able to goto my mambo DB, then goto the mos_gallery2 table, click browse, and then click the edit image beside the row that said database.

GalleryCoreApi::fetchGroupsForUser($g2_user->getId());
and
Album management:

I found this code (below) at this forum topic http://gallery.menalto.com/node/12290?highlight=create%2Calbum

Hi
I just installed the latest Mambo and want to integrate gallery into it but I get this error and I can't do the configuration.
When I fill in the needed data and click on save the page refreshes and all the data is lost.
Thanks

Have I missed something?
