Side bar module works great! You've outdone yourself! Great job man!
Question:
Is there a way to have two separate instances of mod_galleryside at the same time that display different parts of the G2 sidebar?
In other words, what I'd love to be able to do is have the "Action items" and "Photo cart" show only when in the picture gallery but have the "album select" and "Random image" show when on the mambo home page.
Possible?

KAC,
at the moment this isn't possible, this will change in future when this added into the gallery2 code. There are talking about it and planning so, just be patient.

no. it is a planned feature of the embed api to offer any nr of blocks / block groups, but for now, one sidebar must be enough.
i wouldn't call the planned feature "unlimited numbers of sidebars", it's more like "get any blocks you want additional to the sidebar" and you can place the additional blocks where ever you want (as long as the CMS allows it).
ETA of this feature: unknown... weeks, months? when we have time.
I have the component 2.0.6 and the last G2's version
Someone can help?

I have finally fixed my previous problem. I was not using the lastest sidebar component.
I have a another problem. I cannot enter Gallery out of the integration. I really need to go into the administration menu there. Admin is rejected and now I am also asked a verification code.
Users and groups are synced. Use mirrored user logins is set to yes. I have run the run user setup script. No change...
Earlier I could log into G2 admin using my IE browser but not with Firefox (I have logged in Mambo with my Firefox browser). Now nothing on both.
By the way, I don't know whether it is linked: in User Manager G2, no user has a G2 user check (all are red crossed).
I don't know what I am doing wrong. :-? I am using MosPlus and I wonder whether the modifications might affect G2 module. :-?

I have figured out from the database, that G2 usernames were replaced by the email address. I don't know whether it is intended or not.

I still cannot log in G2 with Firefox (no error anymore). But it works with IE.

Don't know if this is a G2 problem or Mambo, but here's what's happening:
Gallery2 0.9.31 (latest CVS)
com_gallery2 2.0.6
Mambo 4.5.2.3
Full:/home/jason/public_html/mambo/gallery/
Rel:../mambo/gallery
Mambo:/~jason/mambo/
Embed:/~jason/mambo/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=
SEF: Off
Short URLs: Off
Fresh installs of both Mambo and Gallery 2. Gallery 2 seems to run fine standalone. Users and groups have been synced, no errors. Viewing the integrated Gallery 2, I get an 'Edit' link in the lower-left although I'm not logged in, so it returns an error when clicked. Also getting JavaScript errors ("Object required", line 219, char 3).
When I'm logged in as admin, the "Site Admin" link appears, but does nothing when clicked.
In admin, I cannot edit the Embed URI setting due to a JavaScript error in the component admin section ("Syntax error", Line 2, Char 1).
Also, someone mentioned editing the config.php file in Mambo's /administrator/com_gallery2 dir, but there is no such file there.
This happens in both Firefox 1.0.4 and MSIE 6.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. I've been reading through this thread and found answers to earlier problems, but then ran into all this. Thanks!

burner,
yeah, it's a small bug. it's out next version.
Lakys,
i have downloaded mosplus, and it isn't mambo anymmore, they have hacked the user tables and altered many files in mambo core. Sorry this will take to much time to make compatible, but i have heard that there will be a new mambo+phpbb install possible after the relaise of mambo 4.5.3 that doesn't require the mambo core hacking.
[edit]
second thought, it might be possible but it's not a top priority, i'll take a look at it, when i have time todo some expermenting on this, because th user table is different in mambo, g2 usertable is now corrupt!!!
solja,
I you gave me you site url i could take a look?
for now change your relative path to => ./gallery
and have you placed a menu link to the component?

michiel_1981,
My relative path is now ./gallery, didn't appear to change anything.
And there is a menu link to Gallery2 named "Photo Gallery".
I intentionally changed the paths in my previous post to make it more obvious where mambo was (i.e. I replaced "extremeedge.org" with "mambo" to make things more clear).
Thanks a lot for looking.

solja,
That is strange setup, if you look at your paths
path=>/home/jsoza/public_html/extremeedge.org/gallery/
relativeG2Path=>./gallery
embedPath=>/~jsoza/extremeedge.org/
i think problem is there, "jsoza" in server path is after home and in the other deeper.
Is it link?
Regards,
Michiel
ps: could you put up a Photo, so i can see the the urls from those?

michiel_1981,
A photo has been uploaded.
The setup I believe is pretty standard for Apache. The webroot for users is /home/user/public_html, which is aliased with /~user - the 'extremeedge.org' directory was created for use as a development site.
Do you think the results might be different if Mambo and Gallery2 were installed into /home/jsoza/public_html? I can't think of any reason I'd be getting JS errors, of all things.

Michiel, it is not working bad at all for now. I feel there is probably a few things which might be minor bugs linked to MosPlus. But it is functionnal!
Well I have heard also about a better integration with Mambo 4.5.3 and Olympus (phpBB 2.2/3.0), but I cannot really wait for more to make my websites: considering it has been a full month I have been trying to deploy G2 with various CMS and phpBB. There is plenty of interesting tools (such Xaraya), alas most are still unfinished or not fully satisfying me, and I am glad I could find something mostly stable.
However, I am not scared anymore to look into database and php code to figure out what could be wrong.
Between what is corrupted in G2 usertable?
At least with MosPlus, I won't have a hard time to export all forum datas to the new releases of phpBB. phpBB, within MosPlus (unlike Mambo) is almost unmodified.
Thank you for your hard work! It has helped much

hi, the problem is the the mos_user table isn't the same any more, you have to change all the $row[?] in the function tools($option, $act, $task, $from){

I think I spoke too soon ~ but I think I'm having a slight problem with relative urls again - except this time I don't see a config.php which I can edit offline and over-write using FTP.
Its appears to be using /mambo2/ instead of /gallery2/ in the url - although standalone gallery works fine.
Thanks

Michiel,
just upgraded to B4 of G2 and I hit a problem with the Path settings. (using v2.0.6)
the presets the component picks up look like this.
Full path to Gallery: /home/foo/public_html/gallery2
Relative path to Gallery: gallery2
Path to Mambo : /http://www.mysite.com/
embedURI: /http://www.mysute.com/index.php?....
Whatever I change path to mambo to - I get "Path to mambo is incorrect"..
edit: I have 404SEF disabled for your component (hoping you'll get it working soon) and no short URLs.
And i got the same error mosey reported in the user management...
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/foo/public_html/administrator/components/com_gallery2/admin.gallery2.html.php on line 241
Any ideas?

You're right - I do have short urls enabled (the gallery short url module?) at the moment. I installed 404SEF but its disabled at present. I'm sorry I didn't realise short urls weren't supported - I guess this is why /mambo2/ is replacing /gallery2/?
Thanks

I got the path probelm sorted, but still face the user management issue.
I have 5 user in the user manager. When I use the G2 component, I can only see two - the second entry shows the error.
When using "tools" / "sync user" it says 5 users updated...
I'm puzzled where this is going wrong...

I'm trying to get G2 integration working with Mambo. I have posted before but nobody replied.
I'm using Mambo 4.5.2 the latest com_gallery2 2.0.6
Gallery version = 2.0-beta-3+ core 0.9.31
PHP version = 4.3.11 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache/2.0.52 (Fedora)
Database = mysql 3.23.58
this is running on my local server.
Gallery2 path /home/http/gallery2
Mambo path /home/http/Mambo
config settings
Full path to G2 : /home/http/gallery2/
Relative path : ../gallery2
Path to Mambo : /Mambo/
embedUri : /Mambo/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=96
short urls are off
Gallery2 standalone works fine
Mambo works fine
G1 integration works fine
Does anybody have any idea to what is going wrong?[/]

michiel_1981,
Just curious if you ever got the same JS error I was getting.
Gallery 0.9.32 seems to have taken care of the "Edit" link being shown to visitors, however the "Site Admin" link that shows up after I'm logged in as Admin still does not return a page (it returns a zero sized reply). This is the link it shows:
Do you think my JS problems are client side? I get the same errors in IE on two different machines. The above problem I don't even know where to start with.

Guys,
Using the latest versions of everything. I have the component working perfectly (thanks for a great piece of software!!) form within Mambo, and standalone as well. All paths seem to be correct.
I have 28 registered users in Mambo out of which 19 are enabled and the rest blocked (did not activate using the email link). When I run the sync user, it says 28 users synced, 2 users updated, errors 0. But in Gallery only two users were inserted (the last two enabled ones, none of the others were created).
HELP???

I have progressed a little with MosPlus
I have finally understood that MosPlus translates calls of regular Mos user table fields in the main database class. So things should work properly.
However fields should not be called with row[x] but with row->field instead .
Here is my version:
case 'sync_users':
$ret = G2helperclass::init_G2($my->id, 'true');
$database->setQuery( "SELECT * FROM #__users" );
//$rows = $database->query();
$rows = $database->loadObjectList();
//we have the list of users to sync
$update = 0;
$sync = 0;
$error = 0;
$myresult = "";
foreach($rows as $row)
//while($row =& mysql_fetch_row($rows))
{
print $row->id;
$row_username = $row->username;
$ret = GalleryEmbed::isExternalIdMapped($row->id, 'GalleryUser');
if (!$ret->_errorCode) {
if($task == 'sync_users'){
//hack for blocked users
if($row->block == 1){
$pass = md5(mt_rand().'-'.time());
$return = G2helperclass::update_user($row->id, array('username' => $row->username,
'email' => $row->email, 'fullname' => $row->name,
'hashedpassword' => $pass, 'hashmethod' => 'md5'));
} else {
$return = G2helperclass::update_user($row->id, array('username' => $row->username,
'email' => $row->email, 'fullname' => $row->name,
'hashedpassword' => $row->password, 'hashmethod' => 'md5'));
}
//$return gives false or true back depending on succes
if(!$return){
$error++;
} else {
$update++;
}
} else {
// nothing at the moment
}
}else{
$gUser = GalleryCoreApi::fetchUserByUsername ($row_username);
if (!$gUser[0]->_errorCode) {
//Collision i think
echo '<img src="/administrator/images/disable.png">';
}else{
//if no match and no external id
//echo '<img src="/administrator/images/publish_x.png">';
if($task == 'sync_users'){
//hack for blocked users
if($row->block == 1){
$pass = md5(mt_rand().'-'.time());
$return = G2helperclass::new_user($row->id, array('username' => $row->username,
'email' => $row->email, 'fullname' => $row->name,
'hashedpassword' => $pass, 'hashmethod' => 'md5'));
} else {
$return = G2helperclass::new_user($row->id, array('username' => $row->username,
'email' => $row->email, 'fullname' => $row->name,
'hashedpassword' => $row->password, 'hashmethod' => 'md5'));
}
//$return gives false or true back depending on succes
if(!$return){
$error++;
} else {
$sync++;
}
}
}
}
}//end while
//dynamic redirect on $sync and $update
This code is working properly without corrupting the G2 user table.
ps: there was something weird at the line $gUser = GalleryCoreApi::fetchUserByUsername, you were calling a user_login field (I am not sure it exists).

macallf,
Could you check the url, mambo is pionting to when your visisting the embedded gallery?
solja,
could you try Firefox and see if the errors occur?
imachavezd,
that is strange, could you give me the mos_user table layout, which fields are in there?
hope this helps, cannot provide a live site as I have not decided on a host as yet.

michiel_1981,
its Mambo 4.5.2.3 and G2 Core 0.9.32 and com_gallery2 2.0.6.B.1
When I added a few more users and enabled just one, that one was automatically added to Gallery, so thats great. But same issue with the existing ones.
Except for last user all the rest are pre existing before the component was installed. As I mentioned earlier, everything else seems to be working without a hitch except for the user sync. I have not tested if logging into Mambo as a user will give me access to the G2 restricted albums yet though, I will try that next.
Thanks for all your help!!!
EDIT
This is the output I get for Sync Users now
Synced: 29 Updated: 3 Errors: 0
Still last three enabled are there, the rest dont seem to get created.

Small text size on your Gallery Navigation Bar?
Across the top of Gallery 2 a navigation bar is displayed which allows users to navigate back down the tree. Only problem is that by default the text size is so small you can hardly see it.
The solution is to edit the theme.css file and modify the following bit
I found changing it to 2.1 made the whole thing work. Enjoy.FAQ Gallery:c.2

I'm getting lots of undefinded variables all over the place, for example this happens when I go to Album Management:
Notice: Undefined variable: itemId in
/var/www/vhosts/www2.schmidp.com/administrator/components/com_gallery2/admin.gallery2.php on line 485
I'm using com_gallery2 2.0.6 and g2-beta4 on apache2 with php5.
Is php5 supported? Have you tested it with php5?
I also get this when trying to view the gallery from mambo:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent in /var/www/vhosts/www2.schmidp.com/index.php on line
194

michiel_1981,
Just an update on the JS problems: I tracked the error down to the search script. When I disabled the search module, the error went away. This only appeared to be happening in IE 6.
The site admin link still goes nowhere from inside the integration, i.e. Gallery2 standalone 'site admin' works fine, but from within Mambo, it doesn't work. I'm going to assume this is something wrong with my own setup, since I don't see anyone else reporting the same problem.
Total users imported are 1099 without any error.
I'm using Mambo 4.5.2.3 with Gallery 2 B4 and Gallery2component 2.0.6.B.1
But its awesome piece of skilled software, Thanks

Nothing shows up in the gallery sidebar.
I know, I'm stupid.
I'm new to all this. Any help? I have the latest thingy for mambo I think.
Edit: Fixed with latest Mambo version.
Now, new question. How do I get the gallery 2 module sider bar (not the image block) to either A) Display the image of the day (gone as of .4 beta?) or B) Not display an image at all?

I also noticed the JS error and it's association with the search module. However my siteadmin link works.

Can anyone help a bit of a newb?
I'm using Mambo 4.5.2 and Gallery 2 beta 3 and I WAS an early version of the Gallery 2 component (sorry cant remember the version now or where I found it) and that seemed to work okay in that I could see the gallery in my Mambo site and I could get the side bar module to work as well. Then I found this thread and the link to the more upto date component, com_gallery2 version 2.06 and thought I'd give that a try.
So I uninstalled the old component and installed the new one and went to the config page which is where my problems started
I dont have this site on a 'real' server at the moment instead its just running on a test server that I have on my Windows XP test server. Therefore I dont have normal paths like /home/me/public_html/gallery2 but instead have C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\htdocs\gallery2
The thing is that through a lot of guess work I have managed to get the config page to accept the paths I have given it and all the tools in the admin area work and the sidebar module in the front end of my site displays the thumbnails in the gallery etc properly but when I try to access the gallery either via a menu or by clicking on one of the thumbnails in the sidebar module it takes ages to do anything and then just goes to an an empty white page
For the full path I am having to give C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache/htdocs/gallery2/ anything else is rejected (note the / and not \)
For the relative path I am having to give ./gallery2 anything else is rejected
For the path to Mambo I'm having to give /
Mambo is installed in the route of my server (so if I go to http://localhost I see my mambo front page) and gallery2 is installed in a folder off the route which I can access by going to http://localhost/gallery2
Anyone know what it is that I am doing wrong? I cant understand how the module displays images perfectly but any links to the images do not work? Oh and I dont have SEO enabled in Mambo if thats of any use.

Ahh BINGO. Cheers michiel I hadnt realised that Gallery 2 beta 4 had been released. I think it came out literally the day after I downloaded beta 3!
I've installed beta 4 now and the gallery works perfectly as a component as do the menu links which is great. I've also downloaded the latest version of the sidebar module as well as the version I had wouldnt work with beta 4 however now I get the following message where the module should be:
your not on the gallery embedded page!!
Sorry to sound so thick but, huh?

Okay so I've worked out that the "your not on the gallery embedded page!!" message means just that, the module ONLY works on the gallery page not, for example, on the home page of Mambo which is a big problem for me.
I realise that all of this is Beta software but isnt the module meant to work on any/all mambo pages not just the one with the embedded gallery?

Peakoverload,
it won't work properly, and this perfents uses outside of gallery2 page.
you can alter the code and test it. just remove the if statement that uses $option !=

I've been having the same problems.
I've installed MSAS (apache server environment for mambo and php) on my D drive.
The path to my Gallery2 component is:
D:\MSAS\http_root\www\Mambo452\components\com_gallery2\
(the reason I didn't install mambo in the root was because I was testing several components on both mambo451 and 452...)
I've made a gallery folder inside my Mambo452 folder, so:
D:\MSAS\http_root\www\Mambo452\gallery\
Browsing from within my MSAS control panel takes me to:
D:\MSAS\http_root\www (which clearly is my root folder)
So my guess is, the full server path to my gallery folder should be:
/Mambo452/gallery or /www/mambo452/gallery
but both om 'em are rejected.
Can anyone please assist?

michiel,
Side bar module works great!

KAC,
no. it is a planned feature of the embed api to offer any nr of blocks / block groups, but for now, one sidebar must be enough.
i wouldn't call the planned feature "unlimited numbers of sidebars", it's more like "get any blocks you want additional to the sidebar" and you can place the additional blocks where ever you want (as long as the CMS allows it).
ETA of this feature: unknown... weeks, months? when we have time.

Michiel

michiel_1981,
My relative path is now ./gallery, didn't appear to change anything.
The Mambo url is:
http://www.xyxx.com/~jsoza/extremeedge.org/
Gallery2 is located at:
http://www.xyxx.com/~jsoza/extremeedge.org/gallery
And there is a menu link to Gallery2 named "Photo Gallery".
I intentionally changed the paths in my previous post to make it more obvious where mambo was (i.e. I replaced "extremeedge.org" with "mambo" to make things more clear).
Thanks a lot for looking.

solja,
That is strange setup, if you look at your paths
path=>/home/jsoza/public_html/extremeedge.org/gallery/
relativeG2Path=>./gallery
embedPath=>/~jsoza/extremeedge.org/
i think problem is there, "jsoza" in server path is after home and in the other deeper.
Is it link?
Regards,
Michiel
ps: could you put up a Photo, so i can see the the urls from those?
Posts: 10
michiel_1981,
A photo has been uploaded.
Posts: 55

Lakys,
hi, the problem is the the mos_user table isn't the same any more, you have to change all the $row[?] in the function tools($option, $act, $task, $from){
from admin.gallery2.php

I think I spoke too soon ~ but I think I'm having a slight problem with relative urls again - except this time I don't see a config.php which I can edit offline and over-write using FTP.
http://www.zetahelp.net/mambo2/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=59

Webserver = Apache/2.0.52 (Fedora)
Database = mysql 3.23.58
this is running on my local server.
Gallery2 path /home/http/gallery2
Mambo path /home/http/Mambo
config settings
Full path to G2 : /home/http/gallery2/
Relative path : ../gallery2
Path to Mambo : /Mambo/
embedUri : /Mambo/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=96
short urls are off
Gallery2 standalone works fine
Mambo works fine
G1 integration works fine
Selecting G2 from mambo produces a blank page.

michiel_1981,
Just curious if you ever got the same JS error I was getting.
Gallery 0.9.32 seems to have taken care of the "Edit" link being shown to visitors, however the "Site Admin" link that shows up after I'm logged in as Admin still does not return a page (it returns a zero sized reply). This is the link it shows:
http://www.xyxx.com/~jsoza/extremeedge.org/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=16&g2_view=core.SiteAdmin&g2_return=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xyxx.com%2F%7Ejsoza%2Fextremeedge.org%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_gallery2%26Itemid%3D16%26g2_view%3Dcore.ItemAdmin%26g2_subView%3Dcore.ItemEdit%26g2_itemId%3D7&g2_returnName=edit+album

HELP???

For all the people who mailed me that I SHOULD fix this or that bug, i'm doing this in my free time and it's still a BETA release! I will not anwser those e-mails but will try to answer them as much as i can on this forum.

Many thanks for that!
Edited:
I have progressed a little with MosPlus
I have finally understood that MosPlus translates calls of regular Mos user table fields in the main database class. So things should work properly.
However fields should not be called with row[x] but with row->field instead .
Here is my version:
This code is working properly without corrupting the G2 user table.
ps: there was something weird at the line $gUser = GalleryCoreApi::fetchUserByUsername, you were calling a user_login field (I am not sure it exists).

michiel_1981,
its Mambo 4.5.2.3 and G2 Core 0.9.32 and com_gallery2 2.0.6.B.1

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent in /var/www/vhosts/www2.schmidp.com/index.php on line

michiel_1981,
Just an update on the JS problems: I tracked the error down to the search script.
Thanks a lot for your time.

Hi,
I've installed Gallery2. Everything runs fine.
The only few problems I ran into are:
List item Show Comments doesn't appear!
Translation to dutch not completed, some words are still in english.
Using the Galleryblock are affecting some charaters on the content of the page!
Like ë turns to a chinees sign! And © becomes a ?
