Hello all,

I installed the Gallery component for mambo, im actualy using Joomla 1.0.1, and all work fine but one problem.

1) my website is french, hence, uses french characters.
When in Joomla, (gallery2 Embeded BTW), and select Gallery, once in the gallery, I have the left site menu appearing from Joomla. Some of the menu's use french characters, but they dont appear correctly once your in the Embeded Gallery..!?!

See website www.lesailerons.net

You will see Météo Média as the top left menu.
Then click on Album Photo, and the Météo Média now becomes M鴩o M餩a .....?
Also, on the status bar of the browser, I see and error:
Line: 722
Char: 3
Error: Object Required
Code: 0
URL: http://www.lesailerons.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=5

My most important problem is getting the characters correctly...

Can somneone help?

I tried changing the Character set in the French.php file in Joomla to be utf-8 but that did not work.

There is topic, made sticky, on dev.4theweb.nl to make mambo utf-8 so characters won't change.

I want to add G2 data to the mambo content panel. Like I have car club members albums in gallery and I want to use the G2 Random image module to add the random image picture as a member spotlight in the main page.

I know I've seen something about being able to add gallery data to php pages by adding code to the pages but I can't for the life of me find this information again.

Anyone know how I can do this?

Hi,

I've got some problems with my G2+Mambo integration

- Gallery 2.0 full (latest release) @ http://www.syn3.net/~caroline/5WW/gallery2/
- Mambo 4.5.2.3 (latest release) @ http://www.syn3.net/~caroline/5WW/
- com_gallery2v209:
Full Path to gallery2: /home/caroline/public_html/5WW/gallery2/
Relative Path to gallery2: gallery2
Path to Mambo: /~caroline/5WW/

Everything worked fine untill I installed and activated the other Themes (other than Siriux and Matrix):
Now the gallery page ( http://www.syn3.net/~caroline/5WW/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=29 , or via the button <Foto's> below the header: http://www.syn3.net/~caroline/5WW/index.php ) can only be reached when logged in as Admin.
Guests get directed to the page defined in 'Login page redirect:', as does my testaccount:
login: testaccount01
pass: password

I am probably overlooking some very easy settings, but somehow can't find them.
Any help would be appreciated,

thanks in advance.

At the end of September, I installed the latest Mambo PHP Shop along with Gallery 2, which will be used to display and sell photos. After scanning the pages herein, I have solved several problems but still some remain. The most pressing are below. Any assistance in solving them is appreciated.

1. I (admin) am unable to logout from the front end, even if forced logout from the backend.
2. I am attempting to integrate the Checkout Modules that enable users to purchase photos, select size and quanities and pay through Paypal gateway. The modules I have installed, according to the directions provided, are found on this page: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/33285. Although I have seemingly set it up through frontend administration with quantities and sizes, enlisting the Cart/Checkout, Checkout Paypal and Checkout Email modules, I am unable to get the options and Paypal links to reveal themselves. I'm thinking the solution is simple, but I have yet to find it.

The site is: http://www.unlimiteddirt.com/offroad/photos/

Thank you,

Fidel Gonzales

I have several Mambo/Joomla sites integrated with Gallery 1 and enjoy how Gallery obeys the overall stylesheet definitions of the Mambo/Joomla site. We turn off all the lines and frames and most of the features of Gallery 1 so the interface is a clean display if imges and albums with some information and URLs linked below the albums and images. With the example Gallery 2 sites I have seen s far the look of Gallery 2 has been fairly consistent no matter what it is embedded into. I tested this with Joomla and it looked more like Gallery 2 shoved inside of Joomla rather than an integration that obeys the CSS guidelines I wish for the entire site. Perhaps I have not explored enough or perhaps the Gallery 2 component has not matured to the point it can provide this integration. With Gallery 1 I have to do a fair bit of code hacking to turn off features I don't need, though that number goes down with each release it seems.

Thanks for any thoughts! Here is an example Joomla site with Gallery 1:

ElgertS,

Clean-looking and logically-structured site. Very good work. The intro page and its logo is superb. About the only thing I would suggest is Xaneon Extensions and adding a favicon to the package to make it complete.

I've got a photo site for a client in the works and have debated using Mambo. Even though the site will be much smaller than your site, yours is a good argument for making Mambo work for the possibility of the site's growth.

Sincerely,

Fidel

Elgerts,

make theme that obeys the standard css from mambo and that should work. Everybody is just using the mmatrix theme, what doesn't look very good in joomla/mambo but if you put in a little time, you can needly integrate G2 in your mambo/joomla site.
If only One joomla/mambo user would make a theme using the standard mambo/joomla css and shares this we are set.
I don't have the time to do this as I have my hands full replying and bug fixing and get the next release out of the door.

Michiel

I am having a problem with the random Image Block v 2.4.

I have it set up on all pages and does work on them all. The problem is that on my main menu bar i have submenus under a few of them. If the image block is assigned to a menu item with submenus or to the submenus the submenus will not appear.

Thanks David

I made the embedded color pack located http://gallery.menalto.com/node/35451. I use this on my mambo sites and then for the items that don't look right, edit the mambo css to override those items.

typically these are the gallery2 css items I override:

#gallery a:link, #gallery a:visited
{
	color : #eeeeee !important;
}

#gallery a:hover
{

}

#gallery{
  color            : black;
}

#gallery h1,
h2,
h3,
h4,
h5,
h6,
.giDescription,
.autoCompleteBackground,
.autoCompleteHighlight,
.autoCompleteNotSelected,
.autoCompleteNotSelected{
  color            : black !important;
}

#gallery table.gbDataTable th {
	background : #F0F3F8 !important;
	color : #3A444E !important;
}
#gallery .gcBackground1, .gbEven { background-color: #B4C7CD !important; }
#gallery .gcBackground2, .gbOdd { background-color: #9BACB3 !important; }

#gallery .summary{ color: #F1F4F9; }

#gsHeader { display : none; }

The above example is for the VR_Biz mambo theme. That theme has a grey background with white text, so I had to force some text to be black. Check out the screen shot of this in action.

I have Joomla_1.0.3 Full with com_gallery2v209 installed. My gallery site is as follows:

http://revival-guild.net/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=36

As you can see, the gallery menu navigation titles are shown twice. I would like to eliminate either the Gallery header from Joomla, or the Gallery header that is surrounded by two breaks. How would I do this? I tried various edits so far, but only got errors.

Would it not be better this being a sub-forum instead of a continous thread?

Ok my problem: Spacing issues
I've tried many a place to resolve this, but have yet to get an answer that has actually fixed it...
Goto: http://www.downatone.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=74
Viewed in firefox or opera you will notice a big gap before the component, view in ie everything is fine. It's obviously some sort of css issue, but I have not 'real' idea of where to look. In a previous component I was able to change a css style from relative to absolute and that resolved the gap issue, but I can't find those variables anywhere in the g2-mambo css...
Thoughts? This would in turn be helping dozens of people, as I've ran across many with this problem.
cheers
David

I like this mod but something doesn't look right on my site. I've changed the theme but they do not look right. I have changed my site template to something else and it the g2 theme looks good. So I guess I have a bug in my template that somehow affects g2. I'm not sure what it is. Any suggestions or clues from anyone would be appreciated.

Site in questions is at http://www.houstonvehicles.com/gallery/

I'm also having problems integrating gallery into mambo with the matrix CSS - it's a pain but I quite like it on my other site - http://www.alt-gallery.net but obviously white background on a black looks terrible on http://www.neobard.info. Any help would be appreciated as I hate mucking about making my own themes - css does my head in.

Is it possible to get G2 to switch language when you switch language in Mambo/Joomla?

I.e I'd like to have one place where the user can choose language and then have both Joomla and G2 to switch language.

Is there a Mambo/Joomla module for this? I tried the one from 4theweb (at http://dev.4theweb.nl/downloads/cat_view-7.html) but as far as I can see, it only switch the language of G2, not Joomla

If there is no module, I can give it a try to write my own but I'm new to Joomla/G2 development. So if someone could please tell me where to start; what API functions is there to interface with G2 to set language?

Thanks,
Thomas

hello all of you, I read quite a lot all your posts these last days, thanks a lot for the work done for the component. I am using Joomla! 1.0.5 and gal2 + component on local server (MAMP in Mac), and I have some question I would like to annoy you with :
- is it possible or planned to have acces to the G2 galleries directly in the media manager in order to paste images of the gallery in Joomla items (like blogs) ?
- Could an an introduction to the answer of the previous question be : be able to set specific ItemId in the link parameter ?

concerning the itemID, I had this bug with the version 2.09
Notice: Undefined index: g2_itemId in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/home/components/com_gallery2/pages/main.php on line 92

(my itemId was 55 and there was no itemID 55 in my galleries)

and now with the version 2.010updated this pb is solved but
at the config, i have the Notice:

Quote:
Undefined variable: mosConfig_sef in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/home/includes/sef.php on line 17

at the gallery section :

Quote:
Notice: Undefined index: sidebarBlocksHtml in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/home/components/com_gallery2/pages/main.php on line 47

if you have any info concerning my two first question it would be great and also concerning the few bugs i writted down
thanks
bastien

hopla,
For the link question see my post here: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/41260

For the error message, reduce the PHP error reporting level. Try changing it to 'Simple' in Joomla Global Configuration on the Server tab.

how ! great, excuse for making repeat the info :/ and thanks for the server attribute change.

The last post of the thread you gave the link seems to be interesting, do you (or anyone here ?) know anything about how to build a pick up possibility to find the image link simply (or just have to give the itemId) ? (other people will want to insert pics in my site from gallery)

I can maybe try to do such a thing, but i'm quite unexperienced in php actually and don't really know how and where currently do the thing (admin module ? button in the editor ? etc..)

any ideas or help ?

thanks again, really appreciated

Hi,

I'm quite new to G2 and I'm integrating it with Joomla in a wrapper iframe (hope this thread is OK for Joomla as well).

I have two questions

1. I'd like to set the language version of G2 directly from the language selection I create in the Joomla menus. Can I send parameters for language selection with the URL http string? What are the parameters?

2. I'd like to display certain parts of the gallery to different language users. The method I'm considering is to have two user accounts for each language selection, and then send guest user name + password with the http string. Is this possible also? If yes, what are the parameters?

This way I can setup albums with permissions for these two different users / language selections. Also, by defining the language setting in each user account, the first issue above may not be an issue to solve

Or is there a better way?

Best regards,

Thomas

G2 embedded in Joomla/Mambo needs 16MB memory. If this is your server adjust the memory limit setting in php.ini, if it's on a shared server it may be possible to increase the memory limit via your .htaccess file, otherwise contact your hosting support.

I just upgraded the Gallery2 bridge to 2.0.12 but it seems that no one its able to create or edit albums, i have to create the albums directly from the Gallery2 install and then see them on joomla.

Now i was wondering if that was possible, i want to achieve two things:

- That the users can create an album(only one, or a fixed number) and upload and edit its own photos.

-That the users can only edit his own album, and only see the others.

im also researching how to link the user album with his profile using community builder but im still getting many doubts and troble.

So by now, hope someone can help with this.

Regards.

I'm working on a combination of Joomla and Gallery2, and I have taken the sidebar out of the Gallery's theme, and have included the sidebar_mod from Joomla... things work great. But the problem I'm running into is that there are some admin links/features that are put into another sidebar of their own, even when you don't have the sidebar activated. Anyway to remove them or create a sort of admin_sidebar_mod? Thanks!

I've looked into this as well. Each admin page has it's own sidebar hard coded. So you would need to go through each admin smarty template and move the sidebar. One idea I had that I haven't been able to fully look into, is using some type of html parser that will find the sidebar (pretty easy because of the <div id="gsSidebar") but the parser would need to find that whole div or column, start and ending tags.

Steve, sounds like a complicated issue. I could *probably* accomplish this on my own for one website, but it would be very awesome if was as easy as turning off the main one and adding the Joomla sidebar for the regular sidebar. That was too easy. :) (I love too easy)

I have Joomla 1.0.x installed and mabel fish for the translations.
I intalled g2.0.2 in /gallery dir and emable Multilanguage module.
After that I installed the g2 – joomla bridge.
1) language selector does nothing in g2 when changed on joomla site. Is working only if I access the g2 site / gallery/main.php.

2) How can manage both languages ????

the code in GalleryTranslator.class can not be changed from joomla
if you change the code manualy then it shows the corect languge in joomla

Hi all,

I have installed both Gallery2 and G2 component in my Mambo. After tuning hard, finally all things works fine except the encoding.. I am using Big-5 code to create the Mambo and album (in root/gallery2/, not inside Mambo).. however, the Mambo G2 will assign the webpage encoding as UTF-8.. now, I have to manually switch the encoding to Big-5 on every page in the album...

Can anyone help me to solve the problem? I want the G2 assign Big-5 to its pages, or neglect the encoding and using the Mambo default, which is set to Big-5..

Thanks a lot!

KAC,

the part "?your Itemid?" you should replace with the number that is showing up in your url.

hope it helps,

ps: this bug is fixed in the soon to be released version.

Same problem for me. My embed URI is correct and putting sidebar on all pages didn't fix it either.
Why the &g2_return part is required and can I just remove it from the code?

And on &g2_return again...

When I try to edit an album in the _root:
http://cabreasy.com/main/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=38&g2_view=core.ItemAdmin&g2_subView=core.ItemEdit&g2_itemId=59&g2_return=http%3A%2F%2Fcabreasy.com%2Fmain%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_gallery2%26Itemid%3D38%26g2_GALLERYSID%3D%26g2_itemId%3D7&g2_returnName=album
which returns ERROR
When I try to edit an item in the album:
http://cabreasy.com/main/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=38&g2_view=core.ItemAdmin&g2_subView=core.ItemEdit&g2_itemId=55&g2_return=http%3A%2F%2Fcabreasy.com%2Fmain%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_gallery2%26Itemid%3D38%26g2_view%3Dcore.ShowItem%26g2_itemId%3D59%26g2_GALLERYSID%3D&g2_returnName=album
which does nothing - same page being shown again

Both times if I remove the &g2_return... part
everything works fine!

When I try above with admin priviledes some thing do work (editing album) but editing pictures still does not.

I tried fixing privileged - nothing...

Please help

Photos Owned by Wrong Users After Sync

I am using the G2 Joomla (1.0.7) component and recently synched the user database. After doing this, the owner on all the photos is wrong. I did a stupid and tried to correct it manually in the database. Now the DB is corrupted. Is there any way to make things right again? Only 4 users actually have photos in the gallery so far, so it shouldn't be too much of a mess, right? I've tried synching on everything there is to synch on and it dies on one of the records I edited manually.

Hi
I installed gallery bridge and I am trying to sync my gallery2 users to joomla by choosing components->gallery2->user management->sync users
This was not working (but sync G2 users was set to yes) so I traced the code through tools.php to userSync.class.
Everything seems to work fine (i.e. the users are pulled from G2) until if (!$row->check()) ... in userSync.class in the function createJoomlaUser, can anyone help with this?
thanks

I am having trouble getting Joomla 1.07 and Gallery 2 to talk to each other. Gallery2 (2.1) is not recognizing the Joomla users at all. I am using the SMF bridge (3.19) as well.
Does anyone have the following setup working?

Gallery 2.1
Joomla 1.07
SMF 1.06
SMF bridge 3.19
Gallery Bridge 2.0.13

Hi all,

I have been having some problems with security between Joomla and GR2. It seems as if when I log in through Gallery 2 (at the G2 root Login), security works and I can see at the level of whatever security I want, i.e registered user, guest, etc. However when I log on through Joomla, I can only see pictures at the level that everybody, is set at. for example, If I remove everybody:view all versions and all lower values (view item, etc.) then even site admin cannot see the thumbnail, or any size of the picture.
In that example, security levels are as follows:
Registered Users [core] View all versions
Registered Users [core] Add sub-album
Registered Users [core] Add sub-item
Registered Users [core] Edit item
Registered Users [comment] Add comments
Registered Users [comment] View comments
Site Admins All access

If I add everyone:view all versions, then I can see and manage all photos correctly.
I would very much appreciate it if someone could let me know how to correct this.

Site version info:

Joomla = 1.0.8
bridge 2.0.12
Gallery version = 2.0.3 core 1.0.0.3
PHP version = 4.4.2 cgi
Webserver = Apache/1.3.34 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_ssl/2.8.25 OpenSSL/0.9.7d PowWeb/1.1
Database = mysql 4.1.15-log
Toolkits = ArchiveUpload, Exif, ImageMagick, NetPBM, Gd
Operating system = FreeBSD clust10-www05.powweb.com 4.11-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.11-RELEASE #0: Thu Ma i386
Browser = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)

Thanks,
